If you have children, you must listen to how pediatric vision therapy can have a dramatic effect. This show features Dr. Takeia Locke- Leef of Family Eye Care Center of Atlanta … all brought to you by HealthGate.

Vision skills are quite complex and seeing 20/20 is only one component of having great vision. Children who do not know what is “normal” may not discern a problem with vision; parents may not notice. In the U.S., one in ten children are at risk for undetected vision problems. Uncorrected vision problems in children may be a key reason why over 60% of students are identified as “problem learners.” Professional eye associations recommend first eye exams at 6 months of age, yet only 13% of parents report scheduling exams for their children before they reach 2 years of age. This broadcast on pediatric vision therapies serves to educate parents , educators, and the medical community about such orthoptic conditions as accommodative dysfunction, amplyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus and what can be done to correct vision issues to reduce symptoms (such as headache, double vision), improve learning and enhance quality of life.

Takeia Locke, Optometrist/Family Eye Care Center of Atlanta

An Atlantan optometrist specializing in treatment for family members but has a special interest in pediatric vision therapy, Dr. Takeia Locke is committed to making sure kids have a great start in life, given that 80% of a child’s learning initially comes from their visual sense. She knew at age 16 that she was going to dedicate her professional career to vision. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Management at Howard University. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeast University specializing in primary care, pediatrics and vision therapy. Dr. Locke has published articles on autism, Dry Eye Disease and Glaucoma. She is also an InfantSEE provider (a public health program for infants).

Louis Agudo is president of “It’s a Great Day for Business, Inc.,” a business coaching and networking company; and Jeff Waller is president of “Excent Corporation,” and educational software company helping at-risk kids discover a world of possibilities and changing their lives forever – Changing lives and changing beliefs to help people and businesses thrive was the theme of today’s show. A New Yorker by birth, Louis spent 20 very successful years in the construction business in a competitive world. A few short years ago, he moved down to Atlanta and sought a different path for his future. Coming to the realization that by helping others get everything they want, you can get all you want and discovering that he could help many business owners market themselves better, run their firms with less waste and friction, he found a calling and a second career. Bringing 20 years of lessons learned from a competitive world to what he does, he and his partner, Randall Phillips, help owners find a better way to function and achieve what is important to them. The is a limit to what any one of us can do on our own, we have limited ability to see things differently than we’ve always seen them. Helping you discover what holds you back from making huge improvement in you business and personal life is sometimes as simple as being a mirror and a skilled questioner that reveals what you already know but could not bring to the surface and take action upon it. You may want to attend one of his networking meetings and get to know him and find out how you can use networking effectively to grow your business. If you don’t network the right way, the event is just a high-priced bad food waste of time. You can learn about his events and also get in contact via his website at www.itsagreatdayforbusiness.com or call 404-375-7461. Jeff Waller, president of Excent Corporation and co-founder of Magic Wand Foundation focuses on helping at-risk children discover a different future by changing their beliefs and adopting new approach to life. After years of study and research he and his partners have developed a proven program that in real world situations are making 250 percent improvements in graduation rates through engaging at risk middle schoolers with software, games and energizing their creativity and natural abilities. Showing what is under their control, the program turns around lives and changes futures. It’s an amazing program that school systems are rapidly taking on because it’s cost effective and more importantly, it works. Magic Wand foundation is a non-profit program that is designed to take the software and program world wide. Already in use in Mexico, Columbia and other nations, benefactors and interested non-profits are helping spread the benefits of these empowering programs to the youth of this world. The mind that is saved may be the mind that develops the next breakthrough in science, finds new solutions to old scourges and problems, or leads a major company and it’s people. We highly recommend you lean more about Jeff and his company and foundation, its a remarkable story. You can do so by visiting http://excent.com or call 404-444-9782.

Jacqui Chew/ TEDx Peachtree

Jacqui Chew Spent the last 15 years leading high-performance teams at both marketing consultancies and corporations. Four years ago she started iFusion Marketing to exorcise her passion for supporting innovation and by extension technology startups. Officially, iFusion Marketing is a consultancy that provides fractional CMO services to technology startups. In practice, she serves as the stand-in senior marketing executive for companies that aren’t quite ready to add a permanent senior marketer to their team. Tasks run the gamut from strategy planning to brass tacks execution.

Jacqui apprenticed with some of the best in Atlanta such as Georgia Technology Hall of Fame inductee Leland Strange and worked with or at some pretty recognizable companies like eBay, Durex Consumer Products, PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle), Miller Brewing Company and Stonesoft (HA+infosec for you cyber security buffs). Finally, she led the launch of Silverpop, RealEstate.com, drkoop.com and hsupply.com during the tech boom of the late 1990s.
