Bob Drew’s passion for nature and water began during his formative years in Wisconsin. He grew up an avid swimmer, canoeist, kayaker, skier and sailor in the water-abundant great lakes region. Along the way, he spent five-and-a-half years as an engineer in a paper mill in Southern California where water is quite scarce. Paper manufacturing uses copious amounts of water, and Drew led all efforts in running the water portion of the plant while optimizing paper production and quality. Through his conservation efforts, he was able to cut water usage in half while improving production and quality. As a result, the water savings amounted to a million gallons a day, which was enough to supply 12,500 residents. He has taken that passion and know-how to get similar results in Atlanta with its infinite water challenges.

ECOVIE (pronounced ECHO-VEE) Rainwater Collection Systems, founded in 2008, has become one of the leading firms that engineers, designs and installs systems in Atlanta and beyond. Projects range from home installations where smaller basins are needed, to larger scale such as college campuses and apartment buildings. Each system is engineered for the specific project to help maximize conservation efforts.

In addition to founding ECOVIE, Drew has optimized the creation process of paper products in Latin America and Europe, as well as managed large engineering projects. His eye for innovation and his project management orientation are great assets to the design and installation of rainwater systems.

Drew holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and an M.B.A. from UCLA. He is professionally accredited by the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association. He was recently elected to the board of directors of ARCSA and also is the president of SERHSA (Southeast Rainwater Harvest Systems Association). He also serves on the advisory board of DeKalb Tech’s new Green Technologies Academy.

Sarah Hathorn, AICI CIP, CPBS is an internationally distinguished leadership development mentor, executive presence coach, image and branding consultant, public speaker and presenter, and the founding CEO of her own successful company, Illustra Consulting.

Holland R. “Dutch” Earle is the Managing Director of Executive Strategies, Inc., a national general management, retained executive search firm that he founded in 1994.  Prior to forming ESI, Dutch had over twenty years’ experience in corporate human resources management. Additionally, Dutch is a partner at Career Synergies, a resume and career coaching business established by his wife, Kathleen.

His last corporate position was Vice President, Human Resources for ADP National Accounts Division. Austin E. Thompson, Jr. was born in the village of Lodge, Georgetown, Republic of Guyana, South America, and migrated to the United States in 1977. He spent 15 years in Brooklyn, New York, before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992. Austin has been in the electronics engineering industry for the past 14 years in a dual role as Project Manager and EMC Compliance Engineer, and now works for Intertek Testing Services in Duluth as a Project Engineer.

Austin is a member of several organizations such as the Guyana Association of Georgia (GAOG), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Project Management Institute of Atlanta (PMI), and the National Black MBA Association. In his spare time, Austin volunteers actively with the Latin America Association, organizes an annual Youth Symposium and Family Fun Day for the GAOG, serves as a facilitator for the annual 100 Black Men of DeKalb’s Youth Conference, and assists with various political campaigns.

James C. Anderson

Lieutenant Colonel James C. Anderson was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee, on April 12, 1968.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1990.  He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the Reserve Officer Training Corps, as a Distinguished Military Graduate, on 12 May 1989.

 Lieutenant Colonel Anderson most recently served as the Chief of Training Operations for US Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Georgia.  His previous assignments span holding key leadership and staff positions at all ranks from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel including Battery Commander of Alpha Battery, 4^th Battalion, 5^th Air Defense Artillery, 1^st Cavalry Division and Battalion Executive Officer of 2^nd Battalion, 44^th Air Defense Artillery, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  He has served in various positions within the 24^th Infantry Division, 1^st Cavalry Division, US Central Command, 5^th US Army, and the 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault) where he deployed three times to Iraq.  His travels include numerous locations within the United States, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Lieutenant Colonel Anderson is happily married to married to Dee Zukow and has two children, Michael and Katie.

Marvin Austin

Marvin Austin is a Senior Operations Leader recognized for transforming strategy into profitable reality for consumer service and retail solutions companies.  Marvin led multiple national service companies as General Manager, EVP and Chief Operating Officer.  He currently leads an IT Security Firm as Managing Director.  He holds a BBA and MBA from Oglethorpe University and is a veteran of the United States Navy.  Marvin enjoys volunteering and consequently serves as Co-Chairman of the Veterans Employment Taskforce, a non-profit agency established to help veterans who possess executive leadership potential, transition in to corporate America.

The Atlanta Chiefs: Stan Gay

The Atlanta Chiefs, a minor professional football team, play in the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL), and are based in the Sandy Springs/Buckhead area of Atlanta.

The team is owned by Stan Gay, a graduate of the University of Alabama. As a defensive back for the Crimson Tide, Stan played football for the legendary Coach, Paul “Bear” Bryant. He earned a scholarship from Coach Bryant as a walk-on and he later went on to become a three-year letterman and two year starter for the ‘Tide’. Stan also played on a SEC Championship team. 

After college, Stan had a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons during the 1984-1985 seasons.  Upon making the Falcons team, Stan suffered a knee injury and spent the majority of his time with the Falcons on the injury reserved practice squad, but that never stopped his drive or love for the game. Professionally, Stan worked in the Health Care industry for more than 20 years in Sales Management. He holds a BS degree and a MBA and is also a Sports Agent Advisor for Sports Management World Wide. Being a walk-on player on both the collegiate and professional level, Stan understands the importance of developing yourself and your self-esteem in order to advance your career. Through the Atlanta Chiefs football team, Stan’s vision is to offer players who may have been overlooked the opportunity for exposure and personal development.

Bill Jeu Devine

Bill brings a Client focused attention to the Business Development initiatives for Talent Connections and Career Spa. Bill’s career encompasses 20+ years of Leadership, Business Strategy, Sales Process, and Human Resources success. As President at AMPF/AMCI, a consumer products company, Bill has initiated a targeted Sales focus across his national team to increase customer interaction, built sales processes consistent across the organization and increased customer contact to grow the brand. Bill’s background includes start-up experience where he served as Director of Sales for FANMATS, a consumer products company.

From 1997 to 2003 Bill led the recruiting practices and leadership development initiatives as Manager of Staffing and Development at Larson-Juhl, a Berkshire-Hathaway subsidiary. Gary Jones

Gary Jones, SPHR, is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Grizzard Communications Group with offices in Atlanta and Los Angeles. He has over 20 years of corporate level human resources experience in a diverse set of industries including marketing services, specialty retail, wholesale, and not-for-profit.

Prior to joining Grizzard, Gary served as Vice President of Human Resources with Pike Family Nurseries. He has also worked as a management consultant in operations and human resources with clients in a wide range of industry groups. In 2010, Gary received the SHAPE Award for Professional Excellence in Human Resources from the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Nicol Woodard was most recently the CTO/Regional Technology Officer for West, East, Central Africa (WECA).  In his role Nicol was responsible for advocating for the technical needs of local country governments and academic agencies to key internal/external Microsoft stakeholders. Since joining Microsoft in 2003, Nicol held a number of high impact assignments. Prior to joining WECA he was the Account Technology Specialist (ATS) Worldwide Director. In that role, he was responsible for the 800+ ATS community, sustaining and expanding revenue that the ATS sales employees support with Enterprise Accounts worldwide.

Mr. Woodard consults regularly with governments, corporations, academics, press, and analysts globally on many areas of expertise. He is published on the subject of technology in local country press and other critical journals. He is a frequent speaker at corporate, government, academic conferences and symposia. Woodard has presented internationally across multiple continents and for prestigious organizations such as the U.S. Government, LATAM, Asia, Canada, Business Summits, Governments of Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and the United Nations in Ethiopia. Allen McNeill has been with Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc since January of 2000 as Vice President in the Southeast.  From 1982 until 1990 Allen was a partner with a management development firm based in Columbia, SC.  This firm provided leadership and management development for companies throughout the United States.  For the 10 years prior to joining CGC Allen was co-owner of the McNeill Company which provided leadership and productivity training to financial, professional, and health care institutions throughout the Southeast.

Jackie holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in economics from the University of Michigan, a B.S., magna cum laude, from Tufts University, a Certificate in Business from New York University, and certificates in Organization Systems Development, Group Process, and Consulting with Small Systems from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. She has additional specialized training in socio-technical system design, change management, strategic planning, redesign of business processes, large group interventions, appreciative inquiry, and coaching. Jackie has a certificate in ontological coaching from the Newfield Network, and is an ICF Professional Certified Coach. Jackie has taught in the HROD program at the University of Georgia and is adjunct faculty at the Gestalt International Studies Center.

For Alan Schaefer the rock star dream began years ago when his older brother took him to see a stadium concert featuring “The Who” as a birthday present.  While his interest in music remained strong, he temporarily shelved his childhood dream and by the time he went to college, he was more interested in the hotel industry than in the music business. 

While pursuing a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management he suddenly found himself battling a still unexplained life-threatening illness, which in turn made him rethink exactly what he wanted to do with his life.  After recovering, he quit his job at a local hotel, started playing guitar and writing songs eight hours a day and joined his first “real” gigging rock band.  He earned his BS in Communications at Florida International University, and then promptly moved to Atlanta to start a band with his twin brother. 

After working at WEA Distribution, Alan was promoted to assist in managing up to thirteen label radio reps. Elektra Records then hired him to do radio promotion for heavyweight artists such as AC/DC, Metallica, Tracy Chapman, and Phish.

In 1994 he left Elektra and co-founded Tourdates.com with his twin brother. This was an online music resource for bands and fans that was successfully sold to Launch Media (now Yahoo Music) in early 2000.  He stayed on for a year as VP while continuing his musical pursuits.  In 2004 he founded the band Five Star Iris and has since performed in 16 countries (including Iraq for U.S. troops), received national airplay, been interviewed in Spin and Billboard, worked with Grammy Award-winning producers, written with hit songwriters and toured with platinum acts.

Alan realized that the valuable lessons he learned from playing in bands could be applied to teams in a number of different environments, including the corporate world.  His fascination with why certain bands had success and longevity while others fell apart turned him into a student of collaboration and group dynamics which ultimately led him to create Banding People Together, a dynamic musically themed corporate team building event and workshop.
