Always Improving E68

Dave Euse joins the Tycoons to drop some serious life lessons that all business owners should hear. The Tycoons follow Dave through his career path and the successes and failures along the way. His journey has led him to realize a few things that business owners need to understand.

Success in a business is not always guaranteed, but you plant your seed and water and nurture it everyday. You have to care for it every single day for it to one day grow.

Being a business owner requires Constant and Never-ending Improvement. Pick something you are passionate about and know that sometimes you will fail, but you have to get up and try again.

SavonServices-logo

Want to know how to avoid paying full price for common home repairs? SavonServices recently opened in Phoenix and homeowners can now save hundreds, even thousands per year on repairs and maintenance services they’ve usually been paying full price for.

Just download the SavonServices app and for just $29.99 you get a one-year membership and guaranteed discounts on any invoice up to $20,000 – Friends of the Tycoons of Small Biz show can save $10 by entering TYCOONS when you join.

Hurry, the promo code is for a limited time. Check it out at SavonServices.com or download the app and start saving!

Dave-Euse-Tycoons-of-Small-BizBuilding value for business owners, franchisees, and consumers is nothing new to Dave Euse. Using the Internet, Euse has a history of generating more traffic and leads for small to mid-sized companies all over the USA. A seasoned marketing pro, Dave has leveraged his SEO experience and created lead generation traffic from high-ranking websites that produced over 7,000 calls per month.

Now, his latest project co-founded with David Esposito is called SavonServices – “Think of SavonServices like a Costco style membership. We’ve curated the best home service companies in nearly 300 markets. Our homeowner members get automatic discounts on any service, deal with the best contractors and their personal data is never shared or sold. Members can save hundreds, even thousands each year for just $30 per year! says Euse.”

The duo of Dave Euse and David Esposito believes their mobile app is a more user-friendly experience for consumers and instead of charging contractors for lead calls, they give the calls for free in exchange for contractors giving discounts to their members. “We profit when consumers continue to renew year over year. The way to make that happen is to help them save a couple of hundred dollars each year and they will gladly pay their $30 annual renewals, says Euse.

Connect with Dave on LinkedIn and follow SavonServices on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Changing the Family Tree E66

The Tycoons welcomed Kay Bodude and Myrrie Hayes to the show to discuss a topic that should be talked about more, especially considering current events and the mental strain our society has been under this last year – mental and behavioral health. These ladies have an inspiring story to tell and it all started from a very personal experience that moved them to dedicate their lives to helping others.

Best Care truly provides the best care because the business was built on the foundation of helping people the way they would help their own family. They nurture the business by building reciprocal relationships and incorporating all aspects in-house that are needed to make the business successful.

Kay and Myrrie talk about how they are inspired to “change their family tree” to give their children choices and freedom. They followed their heart and spirit to fulfill a calling and it took hard work and dedication to make it happen, but they never gave up. They are passing on these lessons to future generations. Tune in to hear the full story and be inspired by the change Best Care is making in the community.

Best Care Behavioral Homes provides residential housing for clients that have been certified by the state of Arizona as Severally Mentally Ill (SMI). BC-New-logo

Best Care provides a stable home setting to assist clients with community skills, medication management, counseling, activities of daily living and/or other life skills deemed necessary by their interdisciplinary team.

Residents average stay is approximately 6 months.

Kay-Bodude-Tycoons-of-Small-BizAs numbers 13 and 14 of 14 siblings and the mothers of seven children and six children, Kay Bodude and Myrrie Hayes never imagined one day they would own and operate a multimillion-dollar company.

As early as eight, Kay can remember falling in love with the white uniforms nurses were required to wear.

When she was 22 years old, Kay became a nurse. Myrrie Hayes, on the other hand, has always been a true salesperson, from starting her own candy store delivery in elementary school to selling message-grams in Junior high.

Both of them seemed to flourish with planning, selling, and being social butterflies. Somewhere along the way they realized they had the skills. Event planning, sales, marketing, and networking were some passions and the perfect ingredients to become entrepreneurs.

Myrrie-Hayes-Tycoons-of-Small-BizTheir first “legitimate” business was a uniform store. They sold medical uniforms, medical equipment, and school uniforms.

Business expanded to three locations before selling it in 2012 and moving to Arizona. In Arizona, they established themselves a new “home base.

In 2016, Kay and her husband started their own skilled home health company. Three years later they sold it for a nice profit.

During her time with her home health company, Kay noticed a need in the mental health industry and in 2017, Kay and Myrrie, along with 2 partners, filled that need by starting Best Care Behavioral Homes. Best Care Behavioral Homes, LLC, known as BCBH, has grown to be a million-dollar company in under 3 years.

A good entrepreneur has seven streams of income. Along with BCBH, Kay and Myrrie also own Best Care Staffing, Best Care Consulting, Best Care Academy, 321 Event Space Rental, MC Beauty Supply, and KM Management, their joint non-profit endeavor.

Kay and Myrrie are always looking for their next successful venture as they build a lasting legacy for their families.

Follow Best Care Behavioral Homes on Facebook and Instagram.

Arizona Commerce Authority – 10 Years of Growth Re-Imagined E16

This episode of AZTechCast features three members of the ACA’s leadership team: Andy Lombard, Executive Vice President of Innovation and Venture Development; Jena Coolidge McGovern, SVP of Marketing and Communications; Brian Sherman, Chief Innovation Officer. These dedicated leaders are ushering in a new era of economic development — the passionate pursuit of business, the creation of jobs and the stimulation of the economy to benefit all of Arizona.

Moderated by Phoenix Business RadioX, a distinguished panel of business leaders from the Arizona Commerce Authority will join Arizona Technology Council CEO Steve Zylstra to discuss how this successful agency has evolved over the last 10 years, the monumental success it has achieved to improve the state for business and innovation, and the future of economic development in Arizona.

From its inception, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) has been guided by some of the best minds in private industry, the legislature and state universities. This unique collaboration has been one of the chief strengths of the ACA, and the work of the last 10 years would not be possible without the time, leadership and dedication of many individuals.

Arizona-Commerce-Authority-logo

The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) is the state’s leading economic development organization with a streamlined mission to grow and strengthen Arizona’s economy.

The ACA uses a three-pronged approach to advance the overall economy: recruit, grow, create – recruit out-of-state companies to expand their operations in Arizona; work with existing companies to grow their business in Arizona and beyond; and partner with entrepreneurs and companies large and small to create new jobs and businesses in targeted industries. The ACA is overseen by a prestigious public-private sector board of directors bringing together industry, academia and government.

Chaired by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, the board is comprised of the state’s most prominent private-sector business leaders, university and community college presidents, and elected officials.

Andy-Lombard-AZ-TechCastAndy Lombard serves as Executive Vice President of Innovation and Venture Development for the Arizona Commerce Authority. Prior to joining the ACA full time, he was a Technical Advisor for entrepreneurship. As part of his passion for entrepreneurship, Mr. Lombard helped construct the ACA’s $3 million annual business plan competition, the Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC). Since its inception seven years ago, more than 1,200 technology start-ups have participated in the Challenge, which has resulted in approximately $20 million of invested, non-dilutive capital. He also created and has led Venture Ready, the ACA’s tech start-up mentoring program.

Prior to his work with the ACA, Mr. Lombard spent 14 years at Motorola, leading its Asia wireless business. During that time, he advanced to the director of Motorola Ventures, where he was responsible for managing a $750 million portfolio of technology investments while serving on 22 boards in six countries.

Following Motorola, he joined Silicon Valley tech company Adaptive Broadband, where he led strategy and mergers & acquisitions in a highly successful turnaround which saw the stock price increase to $205 from $6 in 24 months.

In 2000, he founded airBand Communications, a broadband wireless start-up backed by Battery Ventures, Sevin Rosen Funds and Cisco, with $76 million in capital raised, building the company to a more than $400 million valuation. Mr. Lombard has founded two additional venture-backed startups during his career.

Mr. Lombard has earned several recognitions and honors for his work, including Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist; CEO of the Year – CEO World Awards 2014; Executive of the Year, Network Products Guide 2013; Selected by President George W. Bush to serve on the Presidential High-Tech CEO Forum; and Red Herring Top 10 Wireless Startups 2002 for airBand.

Mr. Lombard also volunteers extensive time to mentoring entrepreneurs, community activities and is a volunteer National Ski Patrol for Brighton Ski Resort in Utah.

Mr. Lombard has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri and a degree in Executive Management & Finance from Stanford University.

Jena-Coolidge-McGovernheadshot140x165pxJena Coolidge McGovern is the Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications at the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA).

She previously served as the Vice President, Digital Marketing & Communications at the ACA where she worked in close collaboration with the EVP of Strategy to lead an integrated approach to all marketing and communications projects, as well as developed agency-wide marketing strategies and digital marketing enhancements.

Brian-Sherman-headshot140x165pxBrian Sherman serves as the Chief Innovation Officer of the Arizona Commerce Authority.
