Brightpaths is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to preventing all forms of child abuse and neglect by building safe and stable families through education, connection and support. Serving families in Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton counties.

Parenting is hard! (And it’s always been hard.) We work to make parenting a less stressful ordeal for all of us: parents, kids, everyone. They offer parenting classes and resources on communication, healthy discipline and a lot more. Helping parents and their kids feel closer; building healthier, stronger and overall better relationships.

Brightpaths has served the Athens area since 1986, beginning as an all-volunteer group emphasizing parenting classes and community education. The Healthy Families program began in 1995. Today, the organization includes a 15-member Board of Directors, 20 paid staff members and many trained volunteers serving over 5,000 individuals each year.

Brightpaths is funded by state and local grants; foundations, individual and business donors. Primary supporters include the Department of Human Resources / Department of Family and Children Services, The Department of Public Health, the United Way of Northeast Georgia, the UGA Kappa Delta Sorority, the Turner Family Foundation and the Jackson EMC Foundation. Brightpaths relies on donations from individuals and businesses in our 7-county area. Donations are tax-deductible and are always welcomed!

How do they empower so many of their neighbors to respond to emergencies? By mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Turning heartbreak into hope with everyone’s help! American Red Cross in the Georgia Region has been able to make a difference in the local community because of the generosity of donors and support of volunteers.

The mission is more than words. Aiming to prevent and relieve suffering with every action. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to people affected by disasters. Supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood, teaches skills that save lives and distributes international humanitarian aid. The Red Cross also supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is not a government agency, but is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.
