This morning we had our not for profit special. We opened the show with Bruce Patterson founder of the Save A Smile Foundation. Bruce is a long time Atlanta entrepreneur who has switched gears from being a business owner to being a volunteer in his own foundation. Founded in 2008, Save A Smile engages in a wide range of activities in the community in an effort to not only raise awareness about cleft lip and cleft palate defects, but to raise funds in an effort to eradicate this birth defect. Next up we had on Gregg Orloff, Director of CancerQuest. Gregg is an Emory professor who created this website to help cancer sufferers and their families deal with the disease. CancerQuest works to save lives by empowering and educating the world’s population through a centralized resource for reliable, current and comprehensible information about the biology and treatment of cancer. We closed the show with another Google Grants recipient Mary Dykes with the Owens Foundation for Wildlife Conservation which fosters, funds, institutes, underwrites, and in other ways promotes wildlife conservation research, education, and wildlife resource protection and development with particular attention on threatened species and their habitats in Africa and North America. . Mary shared some amazing stories about her organization is making a tremendous impact in the lives of animals and people in Africa and throughout the world.
