Cambria Smith intended to spend her career serving children. She earned a degree from Florida State University in Family & Consumer Services, then ended up working in health and life insurance. About six years ago she got involved in finding a Medicare solution for her grandmother. Being the “teacher” in the family, she took it upon herself to learn everything she could about the products and services available to her grandmother. She acknowledges that it was an overwhelming process.
Being an astute entrepreneur, Cambria quickly recognized both an opportunity to serve a frail population, and an opportunity for a business. About a year ago she founded Transitions Retiree Benefit Group. With an aging work force, retirees outnumbering the active employees and a downturned economy; employers are searching for the solution to reduce their retiree medical costs. Transitions has created a turn-key operation to reduce the risk, cost and exposure to medical claims. Transitions is committed to providing a “Soft Landing” for individuals transitioning from employment to retirement. In addition, they also provide a Caregiver Assistance Program that serves as a resource for younger employees to get answers to a variety of questions on behalf of a loved one. There is never a charge for this service!
