Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Lisa Lowe moved southward to the DC area and on to North Carolina, where she did the majority of her growing up. As she recalls, the food industry was not a planned career for her, but got bitten by the bug and has stayed with it for the last 25 years.
Climbing the ranks in restaurant and hotel management, Lisa moved on to contract food service management where she stayed for 19 years. Knowing that her position as a Support Chef in healthcare would at some point end, she decided to start her own business, Cooking for Caregivers. Healthcare is an amazing field to work in so her business was built around cooking for those who could no longer cook for themselves or the overwhelmed caregiver. Her own experience as a caregiver to her in-laws made her realize what a daunting task it can be.
Cooking is Lisa’s passion, however it’s also about establishing relationships with those that she cooks for. She recognizes that it’s just food, but if she can bring a smile to someone’s face that means everything to her.
