Phoenix Design Week and AIGA Arizona
AIGA, the professional association for design, advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage, and vital cultural force. Representing a worldwide community of over 25,000 design advocates, AIGA unites practitioners, enthusiasts, and patrons to amplify the voice of design and create the vision for a collective future.
They define global standards and ethical practices, guide design education, enhance professional development, and make powerful tools and resources accessible to all.
Formed in 1989, the Arizona chapter serves the graphic design community and those in related fields within the state and augments the activities of the national AIGA organization. Their four-tiered mission is to bring programming to the local design community that helps to:
Improve design ability Connect complementary disciplines Encourage social impact, and Promote community excellence.
AIGA Arizona programming includes their premier annual event, Phoenix Design Week, a 2-day conference and ongoing monthly events and exhibitions throughout the year.
PHXDW is a week-long series of events that bookend the conference are an important opportunity for our community to unite under a common passion for all things design. Events range in topic and size. They consist of meetups, workshops, talks and social gatherings held by individual artists, creative companies, and organizations that serve the design community in some way.

Jenn Monroy has been serving on the AIGA Arizona board for nearly three years and has been the Chapter Manager on the executive committee since July 2017. In November of 2017 she also took on the position of PHXDW Director. In this role, Jenn manages the team of volunteers responsible for organizing the conference and week of events in addition to other events and initiatives for the chapter throughout the year.
Jenn is also the founder and lead designer at ReJennerate Creative, LLC, a full- service client support business that includes design services, creative direction, brand development and marketing strategy. Jenn has been a graphic designer for more than 16 years and has worked for on agency and in-house teams.
Kyle Larkin has served on the AIGA Arizona board in a variety of roles for over 5 years. As President he works closely with the board of directors to build and strengthen our local design community.
Kyle is also an interaction design consultant and the co-owner of Phoenix-based design studio, Extra Small Design.
Extra Small Design works with clients of all sizes, from large non-profits to small local businesses. By focusing on the big picture as well as the details, they help their clients share meaningful, impactful work with their communities. Extra Small specializes in bringing clarity to complexity and helping clients solve problems they didn’t know they had.
Kyle was also a faculty member of The Design School at ASU for 8 years, where he was responsible for creating and teaching digital design technology to undergraduate and graduate students.
Matt Adams is the owner of Factor1 studios and has spent many, many years in print and web design. He spends most of his days juggling projects and crafting solutions to problems.
Matt also serves on the AIGA Arizona chapter as its Business of Design Director. Additionally, he’s been leading the coordination of this year’s PHXDW community events. He’ll also be moderating a breakout session panel during the conference. Matt is an avid competitive cyclist and apple geek.
