Miguel Tapasco began his career in healthcare in 1999. He began working as a transporter for Tucson Medical Center (TMC). Eventually, Miguel moved into the admissions department where he was part of the patient access services team. His responsibilities included admitting patients from inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department areas.
Miguel received his Bachelor of Information Technology degree in 2004 and began working for the Patient Financial Services department of TMC. Here is where he began his career in project management, implementing projects related to electronic health record (EHR) systems, revenue cycle, hospital billing, admissions, and E-commerce.
In 2006 Miguel received his Master’s degree in Administration from Northern Arizona University. This degree carried a project management emphasis, where exactly half of the coursework was related to program and project management. In 2013 Miguel received his PMP certification, and that same year he transitioned over the Dignity Health Information Technology where he continued to specialize in large, multi-state programs related to hospital billing and revenue cycle. Additionally, he had the opportunity to work on projects related to biomedical equipment, infrastructure, compliance, privacy and system security.
In 2018 Miguel again transitioned to Dignity Health Managed Services Organization (DHMSO), which falls under the overall Dignity Health corporate structure. The Arizona Care Network (ACN) is part of a system of clinically integrated networks (CIN) that fall under DHMSO. Miguel’s primary focus at ACN is to stand up and grow their PMO, as well as manage a portfolio of contract projects worth over 1⁄2 billion dollars. He also manages projects related to ACN’s overall information technology strategy.
Additionally, Miguel facilitates courses in project management and electronic health record systems for two universities.
