Jessica Garrett was sworn in is as Tax Commissioner in January of 2021 for her 1st term in office after serving under the prior Tax Commissioner for 11 years. With a strong commitment to public service and transparency; Jessica oversees the billing, collection and disbursement of property taxes, as well as the administration of motor vehicle services. Under her leadership, the Tax Commissioner’s Office strives to deliver efficient, courteous, and accurate service to all residents. Jessica brings a dedication to community engagement and continuous improvement in local government operations.

Each member within the office takes tremendous pride in serving the community in all aspects of the emergency services. It is the primary focus of the fire marshal’s office to attempt to provide the community with the safest method of living inside our community as possible. The mission of Barrow County Fire Department (BCFD) is to promote the safety and health of the community through excellent pre-hospital medical care, fire suppression, emergency management, fire prevention and education.

The Barrow Area Rotary Club’s inaugural meeting was July 12 at noon on the third floor of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow, where they continue to meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at noon. In its first year, the Barrow Area Rotary Club facilitated the Community Christmas program, a rebranded initiative from the well-known Holiday Connection, which celebrated a season of unprecedented impact as it wrapped up its 2023 season.

The Community Christmas program achieved remarkable success. The Christmas Store served 744 families, benefitting 1,888 children. The venue for the Christmas Store was generously provided by Bethlehem Church at its 211 Campus. Thanks to donors and volunteers, 154 families were adopted, aiding 398 children and a total of 898 families and 2,286 children were provided with Christmas assistance this year.
