The purpose of the Center is to restore opioid-addicted individuals to their highest possible level of functioning in all areas of their lives affected by their disorder. This level is determined on an individual basis with respect for the patient’s stated reasons for entering treatment, their medical history and condition, education, employment and family background, and cultural values. Referrals for treatment will be accepted from any professional source although applicants are not required to have such referrals.

The William W. Read Memorial Treatment Center offers a patient-centered approach to treatment. Their goal is to provide patients with the support and accountability needed to set and achieve their personal goals. They also strive to empower them to become highly productive members of society.

Through curated book selections, interactive learning kits and guidance from library staff; the initiative empowers families to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Parent Partner also encourages community engagement by connecting parents with local services and fellow parents. By making literacy accessible and engaging, the program helps bridge the gap between home and early education in Northeast Georgia.

With a passion for storytelling, Cheryl brings compelling local stories to life while also including engaging content on events, home improvement, public service announcements, and more. As an accomplished writer and author, Cheryl has published mystery novels, non-fiction books, and educational materials. Her expertise spans multiple genres, including education, marketing, finance, and photography. She has also helped other aspiring authors navigate the publishing process, offering guidance on everything from manuscript development to marketing strategies.

In addition to writing, Cheryl is an experienced photography educator and mentor. Through her company, FocusEd Camera, she has worked with students of all levels, helping them develop their creative vision and technical skills. Her work has been featured in ICM Magazine, Business Insider, Dogster, Spectrum News, and Yahoo News, as well as on the social media channels of Lensbaby, Canon, and Adaptalux. Her photography is on display at the NGHS Green Tower and will be part of the Art of Georgia exhibit at the state capitol in 2026. ESPLOST is the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, which allows for local school systems to ask voters to support a one penny sales tax for school improvement projects. The funds can be used for capital projects and debt repayment. Each ESPLOST renewal term period is for 60 months, or until the maximum limit is reached.

Celebrate life’s most precious moments at South on Broad. The newly renovated building located in historic downtown Commerce is now available for all of your celebration needs. The main feature is the event space, the Ballroom, with exposed brick walls, old-wood timber ceilings and custom metal accents that create a lovely backdrop for your special occasion. The 52’x24′ event space is roomy with 1248 sq.ft. for parties, ceremonies and receptions plus access to the prep kitchen, wedding suite/green room and groom’s room.

Choose from three studio rental options. The White Room which features a brick wall and white walls with large windows for natural lighting. For a private session, book the Boudoir Room and for larger groups or your own set up; the Ballroom which also has a brick wall and white walls with a beautiful glass brick window.

Jackson County Family Connection is a collaborative organization that links businesses, agencies, and citizens together for the betterment of children and families in Jackson County.

Family Connection is the largest statewide network of communities in the United States. Each of the 159 counties in the state of Georgia are a part of the network and have made a commitment to improve results for families and children.

Jackson County Family Connection is a community based partnership of public and private leaders, agencies and organizations, businesses, local government, the faith community, families, and youth. The partnership provides as opportunity for organizations to work together to improve the lives of citizens in Jackson County through collaboration.

Jackson County Family Connection is not a service provider; rather, it is a formal process of collaboration, promoting results-focused planning and local decision making.

The collaborative has created a strategic annual operating plan to guide its efforts to improve conditions for Jackson County families. Embedded in this plan are goals to ensure that all children are healthy, start school ready to learn, succeed in school, and have strong, self sufficient families. The work of the collaborative is based on a framework of accountability which calls for reforms to be made in the way that we support families, the way decisions are made, and the way that we address financing and budgeting.

Jackson County Family Connection is a private 501(c)3 organization run by a volunteer board of directors that employ an Executive Director.
