Prestamos CDFI, LLC (“Prestamos”), is a Community Development Financial Institution(“CDFI”) and a Community Development Entity(“CDE”) that provides high-quality financial products and services for small businesses and impactful economic development projects.
Prestamos through its parent corporation, Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., has administered a variety of lending programs since 1980. In light of the success of its loan programs and the continued need and demand for these services, CPLC created Prestamos CDFI, LLC in 2000.
Prestamos successfully promotes economic and community development in order to create jobs, revitalize communities and facilitate community wealth building.
Since 2015, Amber Cordoba has worked to disrupt the system that overlooks and underserves minority and women-owned businesses through the development of specialized educational and tactical business trainings, programs that deliver 1:1 business assistance, and pushing the envelope on access to capital including her work leading the Prestamos Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) initiatives that resulted in supporting over 400,000 small businesses nationwide.
In late 2021 she also launched an SBA Women’s Business Center in Phoenix, AZ and a US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Center in Las Vegas, NV.
Prior to her work with Prestamos, Amber was involved in the child welfare system as a Foster Parent and Parent Aid, she ran a successful bookkeeping firm for 13 years, and co-founded and ran a successful merchant services ISO for six years before selling in 2012. Amber is an avid entrepreneur and dedicates herself to improving systems to help them become more inclusive and effective for everyone.
