Caren West and Chad Shearer/Caren West PR FacebookLinkedinTwitter

It all came together over breakfast at the Flying Biscuit in Candler Park when Caren West and Chad Shearer officially decided to join forces and launch a full service public relations and graphic design firm. It made perfect sense.

The two had already worked together on numerous projects over the years, had an arsenal of experience under their belts, and were committed to not only staying ahead of trends, but also setting them. Cheesy as it may sound, they both also share the same philosophy: Do what you love, work hard and success will follow. Sadly, (but not for CWPR’s clients), both Chad and Caren are addicted to getting results, making miracles happen and 5-Hour Energy drink.

Eight years and several awards later, CWPR is one of the Southeast’s leading boutique firms specializing in lifestyle, entertainment and events. Clients have included: GUCCI, Camp Bisco Music & Arts Festival, STK Atlanta, Jeffrey Fashion Cares, WSB-TV for Monica Pearson’s retirement and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

In 2001, Laura co-founded the Institute of Design + Culture in Rome (iDC), a not-for-profit organization that offered on-site seminars about art, archaeology, history, and culture to Rome’s visitors. As president of the iDC, Laura conceived and implemented educational programs, hired and supervised faculty, and assisted with client relations and with the creation and maintenance of the organizational image.

Erin Whitty/Two Men and a Truck

Whitty’s journey to this point started back at the University of South Carolina where she graduated with a degree in business administration. After spending a short time working in commercial real estate in New York City, she accepted a position with Two Men and a Truck in Fairfield County, Conn. in 2001.

Her cousins own the location, and they recruited her as a move consultant. After four years, Whitty was promoted to an office manager. A short time after her promotion, Whitty moved to Atlanta when her husband was relocated for work. She joined the management team at the Two Men and a Truck franchise located in Tucker, Ga. and continued to use her extensive experience to climb the ranks. As the management team grew their portfolio to five franchises in 2012, she continued to shine and became a multi-unit manager.

In January of this year, Whitty had the opportunity to purchase her own franchise in downtown Atlanta, and she capitalized on it.

Kelly and David Long/Orangetheory® Fitness FacebookTwitter

Orangetheory® Fitness is a one-of-a-kind, group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), Orangetheory’s heart-rate-monitored training is designed to maintain a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by skilled personal trainers, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, SBT Suspension Training and free weights, burning up to 500-1,000 calories in a 60-minute session. The result is the Orange Effect–more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post-workout.

Booth 61 with Alan Stukalsky, Lee Crump and Tracy Crump 10 02 2013Booth 61 on 10/02 was a major HOME RUN! My guests were Alan Stukalsky, Managing Director, IT & CIO of Randstad, Lee Crump, Group Vice President & CIO of Rollins and Tracy Crump, Executive Director of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association, (GCLA). It was a real honor for me to host three people I  respect and appreciate very much for all they do for Atlanta and Georgia. Lee was the 2012 CIO of the Year in the Global Category and Alan is a finalist for the 2013 CIO of the Year in the Enterprise Category. Tracy is the person who manages GCLA and creates extraordinary programming all year for the CIO members. Tracy is also the person who makes sure the CIO of the Year event is spectacular.

The GCLA CIO of the Year Awards Breakfast will be held on November 1st. This is a MUST ATTEND event. There will be 50+ CIO’s in one room at one time. Nowhere or at no other time will you find this many CIO’s together in Atlanta. In addition to learning about the event on November 1st, you will also learn the history of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association and its founder, Mr. Frank Bell, Chairman & Founder of Intellinet.

This year’s guest speaker is a legend in the technology world, Mr. Tim Campos, CIO of Facebook. Hearing Mr. Campos is more than worth the price of admission and when you add 50+ CIO’s and 900+ technology industry senior leaders, this is a DO NOT MISS event. There are a small and limited number of tables left for the breakfast. When they are gone, they are gone. Don’t wake up on Friday morning, November 1st wishing you had bought a table. Do it now to make sure you and your colleagues are represented at this once in a lifetime gathering. Buy Now: http://www.georgiacio.org/award.html

Needless to say, I am excited about this event. I am also very, very excited to announce Booth 61 will be broadcasting Live from the Cobb Galleria on November 1st.

Over 20 million Americans will seek chiropractic care this year! Chiropractic care has been around for over 100 years and involves care of the musculoskeletal and nervous system through use of a hands on, drug free, non-invasive and natural approach. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills. This type of care has been increasingly covered by health insurance plans in the US and is appropriate for all ages. Typically, patients turn to chiropractic care seeking relief from back pain, neck pain, joint injuries and headaches. However, chiropractic care is appropriate for all ages and for many types of health conditions, both chronic and acute. Chiropractors use such modalities as heat, spinal manipulation (adjustments), nutrition, acupuncture, biofeedback, labs, imaging and exercise to achieve immediate relief and long lasting results.

This segment will discuss how this specialty can assist with many other types of health issues that the public may not associate chiropractic care with at first, such as: infant care (birth trauma recovery, growth promotion, colic, chronic ear infections), pre and post-natal pregnancy support (low back pain, pelvic support prior to delivery), carpal tunnel syndrome and acid reflux problems (hiatal hernia, GERD). Goals of this type of treatment include immediate and long term relief, decreased drug and surgical intervention and promotion of general health.

In this segment, Dr. Forrest Watts, a Doctor of Chiropractic in Cumming, GA will discuss how chiropractic can help many types of patients beyond neck and back pain. Dr. Watts has also received additional training in acupuncture and sports injuries. Listeners can visit: www.drforrestwatts.com and www.acatoday.org for more information.

Dr. Forrest Watts

  • Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University
  • Special training in sports injuries and acupunture
  • Certified to treat carpal tunnel problems
  • Private practice in Cumming, GA

photo-4Workshop 4 Managing Director Andrew Keenan, and Creative Director Charles Willi join host Dana Barrett for a discussion of Brand-to-Brand Marketing and how companies should be looking at individuals as brands, i.e. more than just demographics.  They discuss the idea that companies used to see the only value proposition of their customers as their money.  In other words, cash was the only thing the customer brought to the relationship.  But now, they can bring so much more… evangelism, new ideas, honest feedback and more.

Of course the trio had to also spend a few minutes on the travesty that is the government shut down.

Tune in for a great episode!  And for more on Brand-to-Brand Marketing, go to Workshop4.com
