No matter how safe the workplace is, injuries and illness occur. Georgia now has over 4 million workers >16 years of age and in the most recent statistics available, over 87,000 injuries were reported annually. In GA alone, over $1.5 billion in benefits were paid and this does not include the associated health care expenses! Medical costs now outweigh (60%) the indemnity costs. Also of note in GA, there is a shortage of qualified physicians that treat occupational injuries and illness as we have only one fifth of the recommended ratio of 1 MD/1000 employees. On July 1, 2013 GA enacted new law (GA House Bill 154)that increased slightly the weekly workers comp benefit, but capped the benefit for less serious work related injuries. Every employer with over 3 employees is mandated to have workers comp insurance.

Workers Compensation is an accident insurance program, paid for by employers, which may provide workers with medical, rehabilitation and income if an employee is injured or becomes ill on the job. Physicians are a key part of the workers compensation system as they are a pivotal point in getting the employee connected to appropriate treatment, focused on recovery, minimizing life disruption and assisting with developing a return to work plan. Providers often find themselves “the go-between” for the employer, carrier and injured employee. This program will not focus on the legalities or politics of the workers comp system, but on the provision of high quality occupational health by providers.

In this segment, Dr. Charles Cooley, a board-certified Family Practice physician who is an expert at treating occupational health patients through the workers comp system will discuss the basic concepts of the workers comp system, common types of workers comp injuries, special considerations when handling workers comp patient cases and tips for employers and patients in navigating through the medical aspects of the workers comp program.

Dr. Charles Cooley

  • MD from Medical College of GA in Augusta
  • Completed residency at Huntsville Hospital
  • Board certified in Family Practice
  • Affiliated with Northside Hospital, Cherokee Campus
  • In private practice with urgent care centers in Canton, Villa Rica

Booth 61 with David Lewis and Che Watkins 1Today was a very special day in Booth 61 history. I was honored to have two wonderful people join me to discuss (co) lab 2013 created and produced by Leadership Atlanta. Ché Watkins is a senior executive with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Spellman graduate and alumnus of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2009. David Lewis is a highly acclaimed director/producer/radio host, award winning journalist, Harvard graduate and alumnus of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2012. I am an old man being an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta Class of 1986 when the earth was still cooling and no one I know owned a computer. My how times have changed. Leadership Atlanta was a defining moment in my life and based on today’s interview, I believe it was a defining moment in the lives of Ché and David.

(co) lab 2013 is going to be an extraordinary experience filled with interactive sessions led by world leaders in education, government, politics, and business. Two time Pulitzer prize winning author from the New York Times, Thomas Friedman ends the sessions on Monday the 23rd. There are over 70 speakers from Sunday noon until the closing presentation including Sir Ken Robinson, Mayor Kasim Reed, Governor Nathan Deal, Ron Clark, Alan Dabbiere, David Cummings, Bud Peterson and the list goes on and on. I think this is the most important educational opportunity for people in our community in 2013.

If you love Atlanta, please listen to our show and register to participate in the inaugural (co) lab 2013. You may register and learn more about this amazing event at: (co) lab summit 2013

How much does Trade Show Radio cost? – Business RadioX

September 2, 2013 by angishields

Lee

The cost varies, according to the amount of time that we’re there and how many days that we’re there. What’s the range though?

Stone

The investment is a daily fee, and it ranges from as little as $5,000 a day to as much as $15,000 a day. The variables are the talent that we deploy and the status of the client. For clients who are part of the Business RadioX® Network family, obviously, we would provide them with a little bit more attractive fee schedule. Then when we deploy what we characterize as ‘premium talent’, we charge the higher-end. At the very low-end for the right type of candidate who is familiar with our work and knows how to do this, if they’re going to self-host Tradeshow Radio and we’re simply providing the infrastructure to help pull that off, then it can be as low as $5,000 a day.

Lee

We have special consideration to non-profit organizations and certain other business associations who are involved in conferences.

Stone

Absolutely. In fact here locally or in any market where we have a Business RadioX® affiliate, for select local non-profit organizations, we’ve actually set up a booth for as little as $2,500 a day.
