Energy fields in the body have long been recognized in Eastern cultures, including medicine. Subtle energy fields are now being more incorporated and used in Western medicine. “Chi, prana, and bioenergy fields” are all words used around the world to describe this lifeforce. The belief in a living force is ancient and widespread today. Energy healing one modality of complementary medicine. When we are injured, ill or under stress, the natural flow of energy is interrupted and may negatively impact our mind/body/emotional/ spiritual connections. We can use certain tools and modalities to clear, balance, energize and support the human energy system to maximize the body’s ability to heal.

The CDC’s National Health Statistics Report documented that 1:4 Americans have used some form of complementary medicine within the past 12 months. Multiple studies have shown that our thoughts can be measured and that thoughts affect our health in a significant way. Some physicians have estimated that one third of all “healings” come about not through surgery or medicine, but from our self-healing capacities. Matter is compressed energy and information is patterns of energy. The heart’s electromagnetic signals demonstrate energy flow throughout our bodies. Many practitioners and patients believe that it is time to bring the qualities of healing into the mainstream conversation- even Oprah and Dr. Oz have featured segments on this interesting topic.

Today, an Atlanta Energy Therapist and renowned author, shares her insights and experience on energy medicine, energy balancing and energy healing as a complement to traditional medicine in optimizing our own body’s ability to heal. She will discuss energy work modalities, what to expect when working with an energy healer and provide examples of working with people with chronic illnesses, such as cancer, as well as episodic dis-ease like stress management.

Ernie Garcia/Carvana FacebookLinkedinTwitter

Ernie Garcia, Jr. is the President and Founder of Carvana, a disruptive new voice in the auto industry. As head of the first complete online auto retailer from search to finance to delivery, Garcia is focused on bringing a new energy to the antiquated dealership model. Leveraging relationships with Drivetime, Carvana is backed by more than $1 billion in revenue and over 20 years’ experience in the car buying and selling market.

After graduating from Stanford, Garcia held a position at Royal Bank of Scotland, which primed him to enter the finance arm of the family business. Equipped with knowledge of both the financial and automotive industry, the disconnect between dealer and customer benefit quickly became apparent to Garcia. Convinced that the antiquated car buying process could be transformed into a seamless, open and mutually beneficial process by leveraging technology, Garcia founded Carvana. Under his leadership, Carvana is seeking to disrupt the brick and mortar dealer model with direct-to-consumer sales and is pioneering the car sales model through technological advancements.

Garcia currently resides in Phoenix, Ariz. with his wife and young daughter. When he’s not on a plane visiting Carvana operations outside Atlanta, he enjoys spending time with his family, trying his hand as an amateur songwriter and practicing his comedy routine.

Booth 61 with Patrick Clements and Brooks Robinson 8 28 2013 1This is a great show featuring two young, very smart entrepreneurs who are creating what I believe to be two of Atlanta’s next success stories. In addition both are very active in the not for profit world making our city a greater place for all our citizens.

Patrick Clements is the CEO of bigWebApps and his newest company is Sherpa Desk. Patrick is passionate about the customer service experience and his company is providing services to companies across the planet. Patrick created Draft on Taft, a local not for profit that hosts an annual music, food, and fun event in midtown Atlanta. Since the inception, Draft on Taft has raised over $200,000 for local and national organizations dealing with issues facing children. In 2013 the not for profit receiving funds was GiGi’s Playhouse, an organization assisting children born with Down Syndrome.

Brooks Robinson is someone I have known and admired for many years. Brooks is the founder and CEO of Springbot. Brooks is helping on line retailers deliver compelling advertising messages at just the right moment. His company is driving up conversation rates for his clients. Brooks and his wife are both in leadership positions with Kate’s Club, an organization whose mission is to empower children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling.

I highly recommend that you listen to these two successful entrepreneurs share their stories. Visit their websites and get to know their companies. I promise you will be hearing a great deal about these companies in the near future.

Aviary Photo_130216505815755772Growing up in a small town in northeast Arkansas, Carol Hurst was drawn to seniors at an early age, studying gerontology at Arkansas College.  After graduating, Carol worked as a case manager, a legal advisor and a nursing home ombudsman for the State of Arkansas.  Twenty seven years ago, Carol moved to Atlanta and took a job in the insurance and financial services industry.  After a number of years, she began working in the mortgage industry, and stayed there until about five years ago, when the bottom dropped out of that market.  As she began to investigate other career options, she realized that she could combine her recent expertise with her love for seniors by specializing in products that would help seniors safely tap the equity in their home to help pay for their own long term care, and maintain their independence without becoming a burden to their children.

For the last five years, Carol has done nothing but reverse mortgages, now working for Reverse Mortgage USA.  She is not only a knowledgeable provider of reverse mortgages, she is also an educator.  Carol acknowledges that reverse mortgages are not right for everybody, but they can be a lifesaver for some.  Listen in to hear her provide more detail on who might benefit from this opportunity.  To reach Carol directly, call her at (770) 314-0027, send her an email at churst@rmeducator.com, or check out her website at www.reverse-mortgage-usa.com.

We want to thank Griswold Home Care for sponsoring today’s show.  Griswold Home Care has been a preferred provider of high quality, affordable in-home senior care in Atlanta for more than 20 years.
