We welcome Peggy Titus Hall and Linda Minnick to our show today as they describe the launch of their teleseminar series, “Developing Your Dream Job”.

For those in our audience who are already in transition or about to be, the major question facing many in the military is “What’s Next for Me?”.   Peggy and Linda will describe the steps necessary to identify, target and land the job or career you really want.

Don’t get caught in the trap of an attractive salary to find yourself miserable in the every day job.  That happens to too many people who allow fear, uncertainty and doubt guide them into a job based on compensation versus finding  fulfilling attributes in the work.

Historically, we know 9-15% of veterans leaving active duty will choose an entrepreneurial path.  Before you take that journey, be sure that’s what you really want by listening to Peggy and Linda.

Remember it’s “BE, DO, HAVE” and not “DO, HAVE, BE”.

BE, DO, HAVE:

  • BE who you really are:  Be honest with yourself and what you like to do and what you don’t like to do.
  • DO what you do best:  Know your strengths, skills, interests and apply them in your work.
  • HAVE the life you’ve always wanted:  Be clear about what you’re trying to achieve and by when.

Avoid DO, HAVE, BE:

  • DO what you think is expected by others.
  • To HAVE all the trappings of success.
  • To BE the person you think you should be, you’ll only end up unhappy and bitter.

Tune in to the “Developing Your Dream Job” teleseminar on June 25th, from 7 to 9 pm Eastern as the first step.

Linda Minnick is a certified life coach, motivational speaker, certified sales trainer and entrepreneur.  She has been involved in coaching and training for more than 25 years.  As a true believer and practitioner of transformational thinking, Linda presents the power of creating your own life in various fashions to individuals and groups across the country.

On the heels of National Arthritis month in the U.S., this segment of  The Doctors Roundtable focuses on osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.  These two illnesses, out of the over 100 musculoskeletal disorders,  affect millions of Americans and their ability to maintain high quality physical movement throughout their lives.   In the U.S., arthritis is the leading cause of disability and it is not just a disease caused by aging.  Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are chronic conditions with no clearly known causes.  These diseases are progressive and degenerative , leading to the breakdown of cartilage, bones, muscles and membranes surrounding the joints.  The effects of this breakdown include: inflammation, pain, fatigue, joint stiffness and at times joint deformity and disability.  Imagine standing, sitting, lying down or coughing and all causing pain.  Many patients report there is never a day they can forget they have arthritis.

The Arthritis Foundation is the nation’s largest private funder of research, public health programs and advocacy on behalf of the 50 million Americans living with this painful disease.  With the aging of Baby Boomers, it has been estimated  that by 2030,  67 million Americans will have some form of arthritis.  Here, the Arthritis Foundation will discuss an overview of these two diseases and how they are working to fund research, change policies and educate to help arthritis patients today and tomorrow.

John H. Klippel, M.D.

John H. Klippel, M.D. is president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, the largest voluntary health organization serving the 50 million Americans living with the nation’s number one cause of disability. Dr. Klippel has held the position since October 2003.

Prior to joining the Arthritis Foundation, Dr. Klippel served as Clinical Director of the National Institutes of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). During his professional career at the National Institutes of Health, he authored or co-authored 190 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters related to arthritis.  He has served as editor of the Primer on the Rheumatic Diseases and the textbook Rheumatology.

Roberta Byrum

Roberta K. Byrum, CPA, is the chief operating officer of the Arthritis Foundation – the nation’s largest national, nonprofit health agency working on behalf of the 50 million Americans living with arthritis.

As COO, Ms. Byrum is accountable for all aspects of the daily operations of the Arthritis Foundation National Office, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to her operations leadership of the national office, Ms. Byrum works closely with the Foundation’s regional CEOs to ensure strategic alignment of nationwide operating activities.

Kristine Janovitz, photographer + owner of Crimson Shutter Photography.

Amber C. Saunders with Enrichment Prep & Failurebox

Upon graduating from law school, Amber became unsatisfied with the options she saw in the legal field.  Ever the education enthusiast, she began Enrichment Prep after being asked to serve as a volunteer ACT/ SAT tutor at her old Atlanta high school. Shortly thereafter, she was awarded seed funding from 100 Urban Entrepreneurs and was asked to serve as the 100UE rep in the southeast.  Since then, Amber has curated several startup events that focus on connecting entrepreneurs on the fringe of the startup scene to the vast resources available in Atlanta.  Amber recently launched Failurebox, which hosted StemAtl at Atlanta Tech Village, where students from Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Emory, Spelman, Morehouse, and Clark Atlanta

University were able to tour ATV and connect with some of the most talented entrepreneurs in the city to discuss failure in an effort to provide real world lessons and avoid romanticizing the entrepreneurship experience.

The next Failurebox #StemAtl Mixer will be at 200 Office on June 26th.

Crawford Educational Services has developed a very successful virtual classroom which combines both self directed eLearning with live, online instructor led classes, focused on practical application of the eLearning topics as they are completed. The result is lower expense training (no travel) and a higher retention of information. The trainee is also able to immediately apply new knowledge at their work station, as they continue to work on their existing cases.

Bruce Stauf/Crawford and Company

Bruce Stauf is the Director of Training with Crawford Educational Services (CES), a division of Crawford and Company. Bruce has 37 years with Crawford & Company (13 years handling multi-line claims and claim supervision, then 24 years in the Training Department as Trainer and now Director.

He also has provided training consulting services for client training departments.

For the past 9 years Bruce has been the Director of Training, responsible for managing the technical training of Crawford & Company employees, as well as clients. During this time, CES has evolved from a traditional classroom only type training program, to a multi-dimensional program including self-directed eLearning programs, webinars, and virtual classroom. CES continues to leverage the new technologies to broaden the learning opportunities.
