Detox diets are all the rage – so we figured we would get the facts right from the expert. Dr Roni Deluz, from Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox fame came on the show to discuss her new book 21 Pounds in 21 Days, which  is a NY Times bestseller.

Roni said to stay away from the detox diets that don’t contain any nutrients. She says that it is critical for you to ingest maximum nutrition every 2-3 hours. In order to do a good detox you have to eliminate toxins and processed foods. Drinking your nutrients is the best way to do this – she said that chewing and digesting takes up a lot of energy that your body could better spend healing you.

Roni took us through what happens when you go to Martha’s Vineyard and experience her detox in person. In the first day or two Roni and her staff do a lot of teaching – and it does get a little tough for some people. But by day 4 her clients start to feel better. And remember a detox is not forever – after the detox you have to slowly add food (and chewing) back to your diet. She said to: eat clean, eat good fats and proteins and drink lots of water.

In summary, Roni  shared her weight loss tips about eating healthy foods that don’t require chewing and the health benefits of enemas. A good time was had by all so be sure to check out her websites www.21pounds21days.com and www.mvdietdetox.com

A Valentine’s Day How To with Denny Stanz

February 14, 2011 by angishields

The pressure is building for us guys. Valentine’s Day is here. The truth is, we could care less about this day, but for some reason – only God knows why – and SHE is not sharing – women find this day to be important. Maybe it is their innate need to be wanted and appreciated. Whatever the reason, with the right attitude, we can benefit as much as they, and make it an unforgettable experience.

Invite your lady to your house for the evening. Tell her to dress up. For dinner, I suggest a Filet Mignon. Go to Allenbrothers.com and order their steak. Many of the top steak restaurants order from Allen Brothers. It will be delivered in dry ice and you will get full and EASY instructions on how to prepare it – just choose your favorite method ( I prefer broiling). Get some long green beans from the grocery store. Prepare about 12 of them. For added freshness, put them in a pot with water and ice cubes for about 10 minutes. Then, place the beans in a pan with a little olive oil, add salt and pepper; place on top of your stove for about 10-15 minutes on medium heat. Prepare a salad – a little romaine lettuce, spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage, and your favorite Italian dressing. A nice, easy red wine is a must. Try Santa Emma, 1998, a Chilean Merlot that is light and mellow. On your table is a lit candle and a vase of roses. Enjoy.

After dinner, the night is just beginning – but she does not know it! Tell her that you have a little surprise. Lead her to your bathroom, and prepare her a beautifully scented bubble bath, lots of lit candles, soft, romantic music, and a fresh glass of wine. Tell her you want her to relax and unwind, and enjoy herself with her thoughts. Leave her alone for about 30 minutes. When she can’t stand being alone anymore, help her out of the tub and dry her off. As she walks into your bedroom, she sees lingerie on your bed – you were at Victoria’s Secret the day before ! You know her well enough that you choose the absolute perfect thing. Admire her as she puts it on, then walk back to your living room. Have some fine chocolate for dessert, taking small bites and relishing the mixture of wine and chocolate.  Ask her to walk around and show off. Soak her in. She will love the tension and excitement that is building. Draw it out, draw it out !

After a while, head back to your bedroom and tell her you want to give her a massage. You can buy music CD’s that are specifically produced for massage sessions, or play the Zen music station from your satellite provider. Make sure you have a lot of lit candles, and of course, massage oils. KamaSutra.com offers a nice variety pack. You may know absolutely nothing about massage, but at this point, it won’t matter to her. Go slow and use your imagination. You have created an inviting and sensual atmosphere the whole evening, without ever leaving your home.

Happy Valentine’s Day

The days right after the Super Bowl are the symbolic end of most people’s New Year’s Resolutions. Crowds at the gym start to thin out and people revert back to their old bad habits. Here are some easy ways to stay on track.

  • Stay focused on a long term goal – not lose 10 pounds but play with my kids, sleep better, stay hot so my spouse doesn’t leave me.
  • Break your long term goal into short term goals to stay accountable
  • Find a support system – as insurance to protect yourself from your lack of discipline
  • Plan an event calendar for the rest of the year. If you know that every season you have a race or walk you are taking part in then you have to train and you have to do the event.
