Caramel Apple Recipe

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share their caramel apple recipe. Caramel apples are a great healthy snack anytime. The aren’t so bad – calorie wise and they contain an apple for a health bonus. There should be more candy fruit combinations. The hard part in this recipe is fining the wooden sticks that go in the apples. You can pick any apple – Dr Fitness likes the big Granny Smith apples. You make the caramel by mixing together granulated sugar, corn syrup, hand and half, vanilla extract in a pot and bring to a slow boil. Keep stirring – slowly then add the apples. Place the apples on some wax paper and let cool. You can add crushed nut to take it up a notch or eat just plain. the plain caramel apples have about 220 calories each. How to Clean Your Fruits and Vegetables

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to clean your produce. Cleaning your fruits and vegetables are so important these days. Not a week goes by without some story about food poisoning. Getting rid of pesticides is pretty easy if you use just plain tap water. Getting rid of micro organisms like e coli and other germs takes a little more – a water with vinegar mixture should do the trick – use about 10% vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz the heck out of your produce then rinse them off with water. The friction from rubbing the produce and cleaning them gets rid of the bad stuff. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
