Calvin Gray is the Senior Director of Engineering and Operations at T-Mobile and is often known as the “man behind the mobile network.” He fell into the wireless industry by luck in 1984 and moved to Atlanta in the ‘90s, where he became one of the first four engineering employees for T-Mobile.

His ingenuity helped to build the very first network site in 1996-97 – long before it was mainstream – and he has since helped the company build 2,300 cell towers and make significant enhancements to local networks ahead of the Super Bowl.

To ensure the strength of the network, they enhanced it in a way so that it would cover way more people than T-Mobile currently serves and made it a point to leave the infrastructure in place to continue to serve Atlanta – a game-changer for the attendees of the upcoming Music Midtown in September.

BRX Pro Tip: Revenue Stream Media Training Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with Business RadioX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you this morning. Lee, my favorite subject is me. My second favorite subject, of course, revenue streams. And I’d like to talk a little bit about this revenue stream of media training.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:16] Right. As more and more companies are kind of getting rid of their training department, they definitely outsource training. And we are in a great position to be trainers in terms of media training because we do so many interviews. We’re really good at it. We can provide a really good training framework and some ideas on how to help a company get their employees trained for the media. Especially with the advent of so many podcasts and so many radio shows that are out there now, it’s important for the employees to know what they’re doing and how to conduct a good interview. And we do have a lot of knowledge about doing that since we do it every single day. A lot of companies kind of budget for this stuff. A budget of $500 to $1000 is something that can probably be sold into a company pretty easily without a lot of bureaucracy because they have a budget for this stuff, and they know it’s important to get the word out and leverage the popularity of podcasting.
