MASK Matters Moms Making A Difference

MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization created in 2007 by a group of dedicated mothers who recognized the need to consistently educate families on rapidly changing issues. The MASK mission is to engage and educate parents, children and the community on issues facing youth and to empower children to make safe, healthy choices.

MASK fulfills its mission by engaging, educating and empowering families through the MASK E3 Institute, MASK The Magazine and an informative website. The MASK E3 Institute is a comprehensive year long multi-year prevention program that teaches kindergarten through college-age students invaluable life skills and provides tools on how to cope with a number of issues including responding to peer pressure, technology-related challenges, refusal skills, self-esteem and boundaries.

MASK The Magazine is a parenting manual offering solutions to the modern-day challenges families face. It is packed with advice and will prepare and equip parents and students with knowledge, resources and skills to help strengthen parent-child bonds. MASK aims to build healthy children, strengthen parent-child bonds and improve school climate.

MichelleCardiniwithMASKMattersonPhoenixBusinessRadioXMichelle Cardini is Co-Founder and Marketing Manager at MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids). MASK began in 2007 when Michelle and Founder Kimberly Cabral were talking about their children and the concern they had for their safety and well-being. The conversation sparked a desire to learn more about the challenges and problems kids face and share that knowledge with other parents. Today, MASK is a thriving non-profit organization that distributes important information to families, schools, and communities to engage, educate and empower children to make safe, healthy choices.

Through the MASK E3 Institute, MASK The Magazine, and maskmatters.org, this information is accessible to families all over the world. Since MASK’s inception, Michelle has been involved in the development of student and parent programs, MASK The Magazine and fundraising events. She takes pride in encouraging parents to have a healthy, open dialog with their children while offering parenting solutions for today’s families. Over the past ten years Michelle has presented MASK Parent University to audiences throughout the valley and is a frequent media guest on local news stations. Michelle has been married to her high school sweetheart Joe Cardini for 26 years, and loves nothing more than being the mother of her three children Amanda, Joseph and Cristina.

Joining Michelle Cardini for this segment are two past recipients of the “Moms Making A Difference” Award: Lauren Daniels, Founder of the Happily Ever After League and Michelle Moore-Fanger, Founder of Mother’s Grace.

Connect with Michelle on LinkedIn, or by email, and follow MASK on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

LaurenDanielswithHappilyEverAfterLeagueonPhoenixBusinessRadioXLauren Daniels created the Happily Ever After League (HEAL) just six months into her own cancer journey. HEAL supports moms recovering from cancer in the time of their most immediate need. A mom in active cancer treatment with at least one dependent child at home receives a one time grant to help with the very expensive price tag that cancer comes with.

The grant money can be used to help pay for medical co-payments, medications and diagnostic testing. Ongoing support is offered through Healing House programs with a monthly Food Pantry, Outreach for holiday gifts and back to school supplies and backpacks as well as social support and educational events that assist families and enhance the quality of life for them as they deal with the challenges of cancer.

Connect with Lauren on LinkedIn, and follow Happily Ever After on Facebook.

MichelleMoore-FangerwithMothersGraceonPhoenixBusinessRadioXMichelle Moore-Fanger is Founder of Mother’s Grace, a foundation that is dedicated to the support of mothers and children who have endured life tragedies. By providing financial support and guidance, Mother’s Grace empowers these women to reach their goals of making a difference in their communities by helping others inflicted with similar circumstances.

Toastmasters with Enid Moore-Cranshaw Rosalyn Carter and Becky Van Fleet

TOASTMASTERS ARIZONA

Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization has more than 352,000 memberships worldwide and over 4,500 members in Arizona. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations.

The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program.

Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

3P Group Inc and Empowered Outlook Foundation Co-Founders Jennifer and Toby Johnson

JenniferSparkleJohnson3P Group, Inc. was founded by Jennifer Johnson, and her husband Toby, in 2011.  The company focuses on improving the self worth, confidence, and success of entrepreneurs through proven training, coaching, and accountability.

Award winning Speaker, Trainer, Mentor and Mastery Level Coach– Jennifer ‘Sparkle’ Johnson- specializes in teaching people to go from hiding out, to being in alignment with who they are, so they can fearlessly embrace why they were put on this earth…to share their gifts, and live amazing, successful lives!

Known for her warm personality, big smile, and contagious giggle, Jennifer takes her clients on simple, step by step, journeys from ‘what do I do?’ to ‘look what I did!’.  She is a Certified Fearless Living Life Coach and a Certified Money Marketing and Soul Coach, and in 2011, created the 3P Coaching brand. Then, in 2014, Jennifer further focused in on her love of sales, creating her 6 Figure Sacred Sales System, as a powerful tool to help clients establish their ‘personal brand’ around sales, which only comes when they truly realize the value of not just their product or service offering, but their value as well.  From identifying and overcoming their limiting beliefs, to understanding their ‘Money Mindset’ (the deep, unconscious roots of all thoughts and actions around money), all while coaching them to set and accomplish goals. She helps them unlock their inner ‘sparkle warrior’, getting them out of their own way, and heading down their divine path to success. Because each client’s needs, challenges and experiences are unique, each program is highly customized, utilizing a specific combination of proven TobyJohnsontraining, focused coaching, and ‘no excuses’ accountability.

Jennifer and her husband Toby have been married for over 24 years and their love for helping people realize their true value in this world spreads beyond business.  They believe that a big part of their purpose on this earth is to give back, so they are active at Sun Valley Community Church, where they volunteer to help others meet, know, and follow Jesus. In 2018, building on their combined years of training, business, and volunteer experience, they created the Empowered Outlook Foundation, with the goal of rebuilding confidence and self-esteem in victims of sexual abuse, harassment, and other violent crimes.

Kristin Boyd Candle

Kristin BoydKristin Boyd is a candle maker and the proud owner of Vim + Vigor Candle Co. She started making candles in 2015 as a weekend project to salvage a cabinet full of half burned candles. That fun weekend project turned into a goal to figure out how to make a better quality candle that burned evenly from the start. A year of research and over 100 test trials later…Eureka! Kristin had successfully made a candle that burned cleanly and evenly down to the last drop of wax while filling her whole house with its aroma. She has been making that same quality candle ever since.

Her passion for repurposing old materials is what sparked this labor of love and Kristin chose copper as her candle vessel so that it might inspire others to repurpose the candle after it burns.

Award-winning writer Judy Pearson has an unwavering belief in two things: one, valuable lessons can come out of all journeys, even the difficult ones. And two, we all owe a payback to humanity. For her, those beliefs were made abundantly clear after her diagnosis and treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She was astounded that neither her body nor her mind returned to their pre-cancer space. Making sense of her cancer journey, and finding its purpose in her life, became her first goal.

Judy began a search for answers to her own physical and psycho-social issues, and an amazing trend appeared. Women cancer survivors around the country were doing great things, serving the social needs that spoke to them. They were creating what Judy has come to call a “2nd Act” after cancer, using their gifts of life and experience to give back to the greater good. Pearson listened to hundreds of their stories.

Equally astonishing was the number of women who were stuck in their survivorship. Loss of jobs, financial stability, relationships and self image were causing post-cancer problems these women had never anticipated. Judy listened to their stories as well and realized they needed the kind of inspiration and motivation she had seen in those who had already structured their 2nd Acts.

Judy recognized that women cancer survivors have unique needs. And suddenly the mission became clear: the single component missing from most support groups is how to change the survivorship question from “why me?” to “what’s next?” In 2016, after three years of research and refinement, A2ndAct.org was born. The tapestry of love and hope are clearly and beautifully woven through the pages of this site.

ABOUT PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE HOURS SERIES

Project Management Office Hours is intended to provide Project Management professionals a place to drop in and discuss Success Stories, Best Practices, and Lessons Learned.  Project Management Consultant Joy Gumz has shared with us, “Operations keep the lights on, strategy provides the light at the end of the tunnel, but project management is the train engine that moves the organization forward.”

Each of us has a unique story to tell, but collectively we share a message that organizations who embrace Project Management Best Practices perform better than those which don’t.  Organizations which align Projects to Strategy perform better.  Organizations with Engage Executive Sponsors deliver better results.  Organizations which measure Project Management performance outperform those which don’t.

During our Project Management Office Hours, we hear directly from Industry leaders how to make an impact in our profession. How we, collectively, will Advance Project Management Best Practices, One Listener at a time!
