Fear is Love That has Forgotten Itself E15

Fear is Love That has Forgotten Itself E15
A “common feature of fear – it usually highlights where we need to grow,” we read in “Unfear,” the book that Rooted & Unwavering guest Gaurav Bhatnagar wrote together with his colleague Mark Minukas. Believing that we are separate and forgetting that we are all part of the same essence, consciousness, causes us to lose our sense of well-being.
Being exhausted is a sign that we have are not yet recognizing we are part of an infinite energy that is always available to us. We begin to wake up to this recognition by taking the perspective of the observer – realizing we are not our thoughts and feelings and that we have thoughts and feelings.
Deeply seated in this knowing, we experience joy and play, that allows us to practice ‘detached engagement’ with the challenges around us. We know who we are in essence, don’t get lost in our own thoughts and feelings that may be about trying to fix something, and we keep self-regulating: is this thought helpful now? How be and do what is needed now?

Co-Creation Partners is a consulting firm specializing in change management with a proven approach to creating large scale performance and culture transformations. The firm’s proprietary “inside-out” approach to business transformation, is detailed in the widely acclaimed book “Unfear: Transform Your Organization to Create Breakthrough Results and Well-Being” co-written by Gaurav with Mark Minukas (McGraw Hill Dec 2021).
The “inside out approach” first addresses mindsets as a basis for creating sustained and profound shifts in behaviors for individuals, teams and entire organizations and then proceeds to technical/systemic solutions; it works first at the level of the individual, then proceeds to teams and finally to the whole organization.
Gaurav is also an evangelist for the idea of Co-Creation – working WITH organizations not ON them, partnering with and guide leaders and staff to make their own choices about how to transform. This approach is essential to building excitement and commitment within the client organization for the transformation.
Gaurav Bhatnagar is the founder of Co-Creation Partners and has dedicated more than two decades to working co-creatively with organizations to deliver performance and culture transformations and enhance leadership development. He has been a trusted adviser/ coach/ counselor to C-suite and other senior leaders in the process of transforming their organizations, with a special focus on coaching them on personal mastery, difficult conversations, and strategic thinking.
Since founding Co-Creation Partners in 2010, Gaurav has designed and led performance and culture transformations for private, public, and social-sector clients across multiple industries, including financial services, basic materials, manufacturing, healthcare, and technology. His journey in this space started in 2003, with work that his colleagues and he did on themselves and their own organization at McKinsey and Company, South Africa.
After many failed attempts, they were able to step change both performance and employee engagement and make the Johannesburg office one of the best performing offices across the McKinsey system. Just as importantly, after many years spent, he felt an enormous sense of well-being and vitality from connecting to meaning and developing a deep awareness of his own internal processes and mindsets.
This was the origin of his belief that human beings are the DNA of the organization and when a critical mass of human beings in an organization transforms the whole system tips over into a different way of being and doing. This insight is the basis of Co-Creation Partners’ proprietary “inside-out” approach to business transformation, as detailed in the widely acclaimed book “Unfear: Transform Your Organization to Create Breakthrough Results and Well-Being” co-written by Gaurav with Mark Minukas (McGraw Hill Dec 2021).
The “inside our approach” first addresses mindsets as a basis for creating sustained and profound shifts in behaviors for individuals, teams and entire organizations and then proceeds to technical/systemic solutions; it works first at the level of the individual, then proceeds to teams and finally to the whole organization. Gaurav is also an evangelist for the idea of Co-Creation – working WITH organizations not ON them, partnering with and guiding leaders and staff to make their own choices about how to transform.
This approach is essential to building excitement and commitment within the client organization. Some of Gaurav’s recent work includes: • Enhancing the transformation and change capabilities of the transformation office of a leading financial services organization in the US.

About Our Host
For as long as he can remember Hylke Faber has been curious about what this life is about. His ongoing inquiry has become his work: helping people individually and collectively to discover what is possible in life and express that authentically and fearlessly.
Hylke started his work life with Towers Perrin as consultant and then as Partner with Strategic Decisions Group, serving a wide range of industries, including financial services, manufacturing, consumer electronics and life sciences companies. A major shift occurred during this critical phase of his life. He had become the typical, hard-charging, 16-hours-a-day strategy consultant, and was burning out at a rapid clip.
When he discovered meditation, everything changed. He was so taken by his new discoveries that he chose to bring to business what he was learning: that there is a way we can have it all – we can be fulfilled, do work we love, and create extraordinary results with others. He thinks of it as creating a sense of ease in business.
He learned how to coach and facilitate human transformation completing his coaching certification with Newfield Network and by working at Axialent, the culture and leadership company. After a few years, he founded Co-Creation Partners together with other leaders in the field of transformation and personal development. Then he formed Constancee to help people grow by creating the conditions where deep personal, interpersonal and organizational shifts happen routinely.
He leads Growth Leaders Network, the culture and team development consultancy. He has also taught coaching at Columbia Business School Executive Education and has contributed to Harvard Business Review. He is currently teaching a course on Climate Conscious Leadership at Arizona State University. His award-winning book, Taming Your Crocodiles: Unlearn Fear & Become a True Leader, was published by Dover in 2018.
His next book, Taming Your Crocodiles Practices for Leadership Depth, came out in 2020. Besides helping others grow, which he loves, he is a trained opera singer, enjoys hiking and writing, is an avid reader, in particular of biographies, and is always in the process of growing himself. He integrates all of what he learns in his work with executives.

Thom Stricklin is a Solution Engineer for atmosol and has been with the company for nine years. He has been involved in web development since creating his first simple website as a high-school sophomore over 25 years ago.
Through the years, Thom has picked up a wide range of related skills, from front-end development, design and UX; to back-end development and application architecture; and as diverse as server management, DevOps, branding, logo design, and sales.
The marriage of technology and creativity is a driving force for Thom’s interest in the Web. Though he spends less time these days working on front-end development, his “first love” as technologies go is CSS. This same joining of the technical and creative can be seen outside of work, as well–some of his favorite personal interests are photography, woodworking, and smart-home technology.
Before joining atmosol, Thom worked in the public sector, helping to develop a world-class content management system for K-12 education as well as undertaking one of the largest re-branding projects in the state of Arizona.
This background has formed his career at atmosol, as he brings the same spirit of service and care to each and every merchant. He knows all too well that businesses with limited technical resources depend on their partner agencies to make informed choices, and strives to maintain atmosol’s reputation as a company that merchants can trust.

Jorge Garcia’s journey through design and development has run the gamut of web and software development. He is Front End Development UI/UX with atmosol. He has been fortunate enough to work with talented teams building small and large websites.
He has gained additional experience with web applications and software, creating customer support websites, and data center management infrastructure solutions. He also spent some exciting and rewarding years in the games industry, where he worked with teams making mobile and console games.
Throughout his practice, he has learned a lot of methodologies, development models, and engineering theories. This has allowed him to couple his foundation in art and design with development know-how to create user interfaces that provide real solutions.
User experience is an essential facet of great interface design. He has spent years learning and applying established UX practices to his design and development process. He loves analyzing user data, mapping out interaction models, creating and testing prototypes, and studying use cases. He has applied user experience practices across different applications, websites, and software that resulted in great interfaces with valuable and long-lasting results.
He enjoys making prototypes, from wireframes and paper prototypes to low-fidelity prototypes in XD, or Balsamiq, to rapid prototypes in HTML/CSS/JS. He believes that modeling out interactions and use cases leads to great software, and he uses prototyping and wireframing to quickly and efficiently meet his development goals.

Brandi Powell and Carla Eunice with Village of the Valley

Brandi Powell and Carla Eunice with Village of the Valley

Village of the Valley is 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Phoenix, Arizona helping women who’ve experienced abuse, heal and grow from the effects left behind.
Brandi Powell has been a Transformational Life Coach since 2013 receiving her certification from Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.
Her primary focus has been working with women who have experienced trauma and abuse.
In 2017, she founded Village of the Valley in order to fill a gap in social services and create larger access to mental health wellness.
Carla Eunice has been a Transformational Life Coach with Village of the Valley (VOTV) since 2020. Carla supports women in their healing journey through one-on-one life coaching and co-facilitating Coaching from the Couch workshops.
She has served on the VOTV Board of Directors, but recently stepped down to focus on her passion for working with the ladies. Prior to becoming a life coach, Carla was a 2019 graduate of the VOTV program. After experiencing such an incredible transformation, she knew she had to give back to the organization.
Carla believes unhealed trauma and abuse surface in destructive ways. The only way to heal from abuse and trauma is by dissecting the emotional wounds, cleansing them, and reconstructing them in a way that beneficially serves us.
Carla says that walking beside women as they heal can be emotionally difficult, but the rewards outweigh the heaviness when she witnesses the transformational change her clients experience.
“In a perfect world, there wouldn’t be a need for the work that VOTV does, but this world isn’t perfect. Trauma is part of the human experience; but so is courage. And so is healing. It takes courage to heal. So be courageous in the pursuit of you!”
Alan Underwood with Angel Flight West

Alan Underwood with Angel Flight West

Angel Flight West delivers health and hope using donated flights to serve those with healthcare or other compelling human needs. In the air, Angel Flight West links volunteer pilots and commercial airlines with people whose non-emergency health needs require air transportation to access care. On the ground, volunteer drivers ferry passengers to and from their departure and destination airports.
The ability to travel easily across the country is something that most of us take for granted. But for those in critical situations, the financial, physical, and emotional burdens can make an ordinary trip extraordinarily difficult. That’s when they turn to Angel Flight West. Our network of 1,800+ volunteer pilots fly their own planes and pay for all costs out of their own pockets in order to make these important journeys.
From our headquarters in Santa Monica, California, our dedicated team manages the process that make our work possible: arranging all missions, matching pilots with passengers, spreading the word throughout the healthcare and social work communities, and continuously recruiting new volunteers. It’s much like running a small airline, carried out with extra compassion. All services are free to our passengers, their families, and healthcare organizations.
Not only have we earned the gratitude of our passengers, we’ve earned the trust and respect of a long list of organizations: large research hospitals, children’s hospitals, VA hospitals, specialized treatment centers, small rural healthcare center, children’s protective services, domestic violence shelters, and special camps for children with medical needs.
When someone’s transportation needs are a barrier to accessing the care they need, organizations both large and small know they can depend on Angel Flight West. We’re proud to help them.
Alan Underwood is a pilot, entrepreneur, commercial real estate investor, multi-family real estate developer, a single-family real estate investor and a committed go-giver.
He’s also a Command Pilot and the Arizona Outreach Coordinator for Angel Flight West.
As an Angel Flight Pilot, Alan gets the privilege of using his training and skills to help people who need medical treatment but can’t afford the cost of transportation.
Alan has launched and scaled multiple businesses from $0 to multi-millions in the restaurant, automotive, aviation, insurance, and real estate industries. As an entrepreneur, he understands how to help people, businesses, and capital grow.
More importantly, he’s a husband and father (8 awesome kids and one labrador). He’s been blessed in his life to have learned from numerous failures and a few incredible successes.
