Raj Chokshi – CPA, MBA, CFP®
Partner, Wealth Manager
For Raj Chokshi, his friends and family, it was a given that Raj would embark on a career that involved numbers and owning a business. After all, Raj came from a family where everyone was self-employed and the family boasted a long line of accountants and CPAs. Adding one more was a safe bet.
But Raj’s path to Atlanta and to the creation of Redwood Wealth Management was unique. Born 100 miles north of London in Leicestershire, England, Raj moved to Connecticut at age 10, then to Massachusetts for middle school and finally to Cordele, Georgia, for high school.
As a high school student in Cordele, Raj hardly exhibited the traits of a man destined to be in wealth management. He worked as sports photographer for the local newspaper, the Cordele Dispatch, and shot photos for his high school yearbook. Adding to his photography passion, Raj worked as disc jockey for a local country radio station with the handle “Raj on the Radio.”
With college, however, Raj returned to numbers, earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and passing the CPA exam immediately after college. Hired by the world-renowned accounting and tax-planning firm of Arthur Andersen, Raj learned how to do tax planning and returns while working for some of the wealthiest individuals in Atlanta.
Raj returned to school to get his MBA in financial planning from Georgia State University and then founded Redwood Wealth Management. Raj’s credentials also include a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and a CFP (Certified Financial Planner™).
Raj’s passion for financial planning reveals itself through Redwood every day as he relishes in taking complex financial subject matter and simplifying it to make it understandable.
Raj lives in Alpharetta with his wife, Shruti, his son, Milan, and his daughter, Ria. When he’s not managing wealth plans for clients, he enjoys time with his family, working out and—his latest adventure—scuba diving!
