Karen Kelly is the Director of Exhibits & Education for the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Ms. Kelly has been at CMA since 2006. Ms. Kelly served as the project director for the Museum’s $8.2 million Capital Renovation, which was completed in December 2015. The renovation added a mezzanine level and creating a fabulous set of hands-on, minds-on exhibitions for children ages 0-9.
In addition, Ms. Kelly launched two major outreach programs Connected Learning, Connected Communities and Spread the Word! With the Museum. Ms. Kelly is the team leader for all exhibition, educational and artistic programming at the Museum. Prior to working at CMA, Ms. Kelly served as the Director of Education and Interpretation at the Atlanta History Center.
She has served as chair and founder of the Georgia Museum Educators, Chair for the Southeastern Education Committee, served on the national board of the Education Committee for the American Association of Museums, and on the programming committee for the Southeastern Museums Conference as well as Education Committees through the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Boyce L. Ansley School, an emerging school for children who are homeless or who have experienced homelessness. She is an active volunteer through her neighborhood and church, and is married to attorney Jonathan Miller and has two children, Claire and Adam.
