Richard E. Beckman is the Chief Executive Offer at Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC). He brings nearly thirty five years of accounting, business consulting and financial advising experience to the position, which he has held since 1998. Rich has worked closely and grown a variety of companies, including a number of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing private and public companies.
Rich was an audit partner with Arthur Andersen & Co. working with closely held and entrepreneurial companies including Domino’s Pizza (which grew from 100 locations in 1978 to over 2000 locations in 1991) and GEDC’s predecessors, MIDA Dental Plans and American Dental Group (collectively MIDA) .
After leaving Arthur Andersen in 1991, Rich joined Credit Acceptance Corporation (NASDAQ CACC), a subprime auto finance company, growing the company’s loan portfolio from $50 million to over $1 billion in assets and international operations. CACC became a public company in 1992 and currently has a market cap in excess of $2 billion dollars.
Rich joined GEDC as the Chief Executive Officer with the charge of growing it into a national Dental Service Organization (DSO). Under his guidance and leadership, GEDC has grown from a Michigan-based DSO with 21 dental centers, to an elite DSO with over 250 practices across ten states. GEDC is one of the largest DSO’s in the United States and currently has over 125,000 unique patient visits a month and offers all facets of dental care to its valued patients. The Company provides full service dental care to blue collar and middle class patients who have some level of insurance coverage, or who need dental care at an affordable price.
As Great Expressions Dental Centers continues to expand, the organization has been a member of the Inc. 5000 for the past six years. GEDC was number 25 on Inc’s 2012 Hire Power award. In addition, GEDC has been recognized By Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the top 100 companies in the Southwestern Michigan area.
Rich has guided GEDC in giving back to the communities in which we serve. GEDC provides donations to the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and Nova Southeastern University. In addition, GEDC participates in revenue sharing on Martin Luther King Day, and provides both monetary support and staffing assistance to St. Vincent DePaul located in the inner city of Detroit. Our employees also participate in a number of Feeding Children Everywhere events to package meals for children in need throughout our local communities.
