Environmental medicine focuses on the interaction between humans and their environments and the effect of this interaction on total health. Care encompasses the recognition, treatment and prevention of illnesses induced by exposure to biological and chemical agents in air, food and water. Common culprits affecting our health in this area are air pollution, pesticides, radiation, and molds. Medicine, environmental science and chemistry considerations are reviewed. Many patients visit many doctors trying to find the underlying cause of their chronic poor health conditions. Susan Tanner, M.D./Southern Environmental Medicine Center

After earning a B.A. from Emory University in Atlanta, Dr. Tanner received her M.D. from the Universidad Nordestana in the Dominican Republic. She was a resident at hospitals in New Jersey and New York before returning to her native town of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Dr. Tanner is a medical expert on multi-chemical sensitivities, and currently runs Southern Environmental Medicine Center in Atlanta. She has been featured on 11Alive News and the “Atlanta and Company” shows.
