A parent’s instinct is to protect their child at every turn. Parents never want their child to experience any pain – whether it be physical pain or emotional pain. But if you’re kid starts playing sports he/she will have to learn how to lose and learn how to deal with not getting the results that were hoped for. Here are some coping strategies you can do to help your kid…
- Alone time – after a loss give your child some time alone to decompress and process things
- Venting – when your kid is ready to talk, listen and discuss but don’t make excuses
- Role Model – Always take the high road – don’t let your kid get away with being disrespectful or throw a tantrum
