Dr Fitness spent a lot of time explaining the differences between polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, saturated and hydrogenated fats. Briefly: Poly – mostly comes from plants has omega 6 fats which are ok and omega 3 fats which are good – have been shown to lower total cholesterol; Mono – mostly comes from plants for example olive oil is a mono they have been shown to lower your ldl; Saturated fats mostly come from meat (an exception is coconut which is good) has been shown to raise cholesterol; Hydrogenated – mostly in snack foods and fried foods has been shown to raise blood cholesterol.
