On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Jeff Graves with Vision Event Management is the Race Director for the Publix Georgia Marathon. This Atlanta tradition has been around for five years and will have over 18,000 people running. It starts our from Centennial Olympic Park and meanders through most of Atlanta’s historic landmarks, neighborhoods and sites. This 2 day event features speakers, vendors, bands in addition to the marathon and half marathon. There is also a 5k run and kids run the day before on March 19.
Jeff also talked about the challenges of putting on a running event of this size. He has wrangled up over 2400 volunteers. There are groups who man the water stations competing for the awards for best and most creative water station. So be on the look out for that. Even if you are not going to run there are things to do and see that day so be sure to come by and see why this is such a successful event. It is not too late to get your number so go to their website www.georgiamarathon.com to get more information and to register.
