In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain some misleading food labels. Food labels today sometimes don’t mean what you think they mean. For example Good source of Fiber rarely if ever means real soluable fiber. More times than not the food company is referring to the less healthful soluable fiber which they seem to be able to put into pretty much everything these days. If you see a product that says Real Fruit – don’t assume that the real fruit inside the product is actually the real fruit pictured on the label. Sometimes the label could have pictures of exotic berries and delicious looking fruit with a big Real Fruit inside label but when you read the ingredients the “real fruit” inside is really mostly less expensive fruits like apple or pear with the good stuff buried at the end of the ingredient list. FYI the ingredients are listed in the order of most to least. Also Lightly Sweetened products can contain lots more sugar than you would expect. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
