Make it a series of little talks that happen throughout their lives. Whenever you see something on the news, or on TV or in your kids life that is an example of the dangers of drugs – that is your cue to have a little brief talk about the dangers of drugs. Use the example that is in front of you as the topic for your talk. And encourage your kid to discuss the event as a natural conversation rather than a big momentous “talk.” And get over yourself – if you think you are being a hypocrite regarding your own drug use.
