Studies show that when you are eating with skinny people you use them as a guide as to what and how much to eat. So if your skinny friend is binging on chocolate cake you start thinking well if she can eat that then there is no harm in me having a piece as well. So you see your skinny friend (she’s not doing this to sabotage you on purpose) is undermining your weight loss program. Good news though, when you hang out with fatter people they also influence your behavior. When you see what heavier friends are eating typically you eat less because subconsciously you don’t want to look like them.
