It started because of an article, nap time, and an idea that could improve the entire real estate industry.
Sitting in his office back in 2017, co-founder Michael Valente finished reading an article about renovating rental properties to increase the rental rate. Michael spent his career as a general contractor and licensed Realtor completing more than 500 client construction projects, working with luxury designers, and buying and selling his own properties. This article made him think.
“No one is offering professional renovation services for the residential “for sale” market. I can easily do that.” Mike had been part of numerous large renovation projects that always took too long and provided little personal and financial fulfillment. His Realtor friends also saw a need.
Instead of focusing on the big projects with little return, the focus would be quality, stylish cosmetic renovations, execution with speed, and an approachable cost. The result would be better pictures to match what today’s buyers are looking for online. And most importantly, help listings sell quickly, and at their true value.
So, what Mike did next was what most wise men do, he asked his wife for advice. Amanda immediately loved the idea, and with her experience in marketing and Mike’s in real estate and construction, they knew they could make it work.
The idea was there. Next was making it happen.
Within two months, they convinced general contractor and friend, John Bura, and interior designer, Briana Gershenzon to join the team. The only thing missing was a name. After putting their son down for a nap and getting some quiet time to think, Amanda came up with “Renovation Sells.”
Today, they’ve renovated over 150 homes (and counting) with an average price of $20K per project. Together, they provide a pivotal service for Realtors and sellers in Chicago and looking to expand in markets across the country.
