JoAnne LaBounty is President/CEO of Spartanburg Meat Processing Co. Inc., a USDA inspected meat processing plant providing fully cooked pork ribs and BBQ to both retail and foodservice customers domestically and globally, allowing them the sumptuous taste of slow cooked, restaurant quality ribs in 10 minutes or less, at a price that fits with today’s economic needs.
Spartanburg Meat Processing was founded in 1999 by Ms. LaBounty and partners. Ms. LaBounty became the sole owner in February, 2002 and certified as a woman owned business in March 2003. JoAnne has surrounded herself with quality management including 2 of her children. Production in the Spartanburg, SC facility has grown from 2 million pounds in 2002 to 8 million pounds in 2019. 2020 is projected to be another year of growth topping 9 million pounds of processed products.
Covid 19 has influenced the Company to pivot to other items their sales team can offer adding over 8 new items both in perishable and non perishable. JoAnne along with sales director, Mallory Smith partnered to launch an new desert Company: Voulez-Vous Foods, LLC.. Voulez-Vous Foods has designed a line of Decadent Deserts for the Adult taste. Spartanburg Meat Processing has taken on the line and will serve as Distributor.
A passionate civic and community leader, Ms. LaBounty has held numerous board positions including Junior Achievement, TD Bank Board of Advisors, SC SBA Board of Advisors and USC Upstate Foundation Board of Directors. She is a proud member of Greater Womens Business Council and the Women’s President Organization.
Over the years, a number of organizations have recognized Ms. LaBounty’s business and community efforts including 2005 Minority Person of the Year, 2007 Business Person of the Year, 2012 Enterprising Woman of the Year, 2015 50 Fastest Growing Companies recognized by American Express and 2016 SC SBA Person of the Year.
Ms. LaBounty was born in New Mexico, grew up in Vermont and now resides in South Carolina with her fiancé. Ms. LaBounty studied at Kennedy Western University (BA Business and Marketing), Darden School of Business, Protocol School of Washington and Harvard Business School (OPM48) class of 2016.
Ms. LaBounty is an avid reader, enthusiastic world traveler, part time golfer and fulltime mom to Great Dane Duke and Border Collie Molly.
