Dr. Donovan C. Chau is director of strategy and engagement at the University of West Florida’s Center for Research and Economic Opportunity. Since 2014, he has overseen multiple economic development initiatives, including grant programs aimed at tying industry as well as the nonprofit and public sectors closer to the University. In addition, since early 2015 Dr. Chau has served as executive director of Innovation Coast, a nonprofit alliance of technology and knowledge-based companies and organizations in Northwest Florida. Through this role, he liaises extensively with the region’s industry leaders to understand talent development needs and develop solutions to grow these industry sectors. Between 1996 and 2005, Dr. Chau earned a B.A. in literature and government from Claremont McKenna College, an M.S. in defense and strategic studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in politics and international relations from the University of Reading (UK).
