NAWBO is the National Association of Women Business Owners. It is the oldest and largest business membership organization exclusively for women entrepreneurs who own their business. NAWBO was founded in 1975 to represent the interests of women business owners particuarly in public policy matters that impact thier businesses, incuding and especially what we are discussing today, the Women’s Business Ownership Act. Today NAWBO has 5,000 members across 3 chapters nationwide. The NAWBO Atlanta Chapter was formed in 1997 and meets monthly on second Thursdays at The Buckhead Club for a business education program and lunch.

Nancy Chorpenning/C-Suite Advisors
Nancy Chorpenning is Founder and Managing Director of C-Suite Advisors, a business advisory practice helping business owners, especially women entrepreneurs, grow their companies by planning and focusing on the right priorities. Nancy spent nearly 30 years in corporate America before founding C-Suite Advisors in 2006, punctuated by a 2-year stint as a midlife Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua New Guinea in the late 90s. She moved to Atlanta in 1999 as part of the management team that started up WebMD, where she launched the first physician website. She is a Director on the National Board of NAWBO where she serves as Chair of the Governance Committee. She has been a member of NAWBO since she started her business, and served on the Board of the Atlanta Chapter for 6 years including as Chapter President. She is also a member of the Presidents Assembly of NAWBO, past presidents who support current chapter leaders, where she has responsibility for 17 southern tier chapters of NAWBO. Nancy is a new bride, and she and her husband Paul live in Atlanta.
Dorothéa Bozicolona-Volpe is a strategic digital marketing executive who is fluent in 4 languages and specializes in developing business for international brands (Fortune 500) via initiating and integrating social media and digital strategies and enterprise social networking, as well as, building strategic partnerships and implementing marketing technologies. Dorothéa teaches marketers and business leaders how to measure, optimize and build current new media efforts to increase value and develop strong relationships between brands and fans Additionally, Dorothéa has appeared as a social media marketing strategy subject matter expert on CBS and CNN’s Ali Velshi show. Some of her clients include: Boy Scouts of America, Mashable, Ryan Seacrest, Ryan Seacrest Productions, Chrysler, The Weather Channel, AT&T, Georgia Tech, InterContinental Hotels Group, Mercer, Jewish Family & Career Services, Ogilvy & Mather, Reader’s Digest, Qualcomm, Turner Network Television, Coca-Cola. She is a new NAWBO member, and is presently leading a social media effort to engage interest in NAWBO’s upcoming Women’s Business Conference in Miami, October 3-5 this year.

Jill Peck is Vice-President & COO for Henderson Shapiro Peck, Inc., a relationship-driven, award winning marketing and business support company. Areas of practice include healthcare, bioscience, pharma, communications/technology, publishing and non-profit. She is a member of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Certified Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBENC), Metro Atlanta Chamber, North Metro Chamber of Commerce, Roswell Business Alliance. Tonya Hicks/Power Solutions, Inc.
Tonya Hicks is founder and President of Power Solutions, Inc., a 13-year old commercial electrical contracting and engineering firm in Atlanta; Power Solutions also has a newer Maintenance Division. Tonya became the first woman journeyman electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Meridian, MS in 1994. She is starting up another company “MaryAnn Works” providing work clothes designed for women in construction and uniformed services. Tonya is an avid blogger, and started “Women Do Everything,” to help women maintain, manage and renovate their homes. A single mother to two sons, aged 7 and 20, she is self-described as half Martha Stewart and half Oprah.
Linda Hughes is the CEO of GreatRidge a consulting company focused on helping companies grow to meet their potential. Linda founded GreatRidge in 2008 after a 25 year career including leadership positions at companies including The Coca-Cola Company, AIG, and NorthHighland. Linda has been a member of NAWBO for over 3 years and is currently serving as the President of the NAWBO Atlanta chapter.
