Five Inspiring Women Working In Technology – Business RadioX

We’ve had the amazing opportunity to interview a lot of women working in technology about technology in Atlanta, and about being women in a male-dominated field. Here’s a list of a few of you should give a listen to.

1. Erica Stanley  with Women Who Code, (@WWCAtl)

Erica Stanley (@ericastanley) has is a software architect and consultant, and has worked for with big name industry leaders such as Turner Broadcasting, Myspace, Facebook, Oracle and Boeing. She’s been a leader at four startup companies, two of which were acquired by Fortune 100 companies. Stanley cofounded the Atlanta network of Women Who Code, where she uses her 15 years of experience to help other women in technology with their careers.

2. Sarah Lodato with The Iron Yard ,(@TheIronYard)

Sarah Lodato (@sarahbethlodato) is the Campus Director for The Iron Yard  in Atlanta. She has years of business management experience, having founded two businesses prior to coming to The Iron Yard, and, though her tasks lean more towards management, she also has skills in WordPress, HTML, CSS, graphic design, and copywriting.

3. Erica Baity of TechieChic

Erica Baity, a former software engineer and data architect , used her 13 years of technology experience to found TechieChic. TechieChic’s mission is to even out the gender disparities in the tech field by education and staffing women in technology companies.

4. Allyson Eman of Venture Atlanta

Allyson Eman  is the Executive Director for Venture Atlanta. She has a broad and expansive background in marketing, with over 20 years of experience in marketing, sales, and communications.

5. Vicky Sleight with GSMA

Vicky Sleight has been the Senior Director of Member Services at the GSMA  since 2008, and is responsible for growing membership within the mobile ecosystem and leading membership communications and operations for a community of 20,500 industry executives. She is also the driving force behind the GSMA Connected Women program: an initiative which aims to highlight the opportunities available to women in the mobile industry at all levels, as well as increase the number of women in senior management positions.

Sara Buchanan / My Job Connector & Your Talent Bridge

Prior to founding Your Talent Bridge, Sara developed her passion for identifying, recruiting, and developing talent when she became the youngest Sales Manager in BellSouth’s history to be promoted into BellSouth’s Management ranks at age 24.

With a dedication to excellence while in corporate America, Sara received over 17 awards for sales achievement and dedication to excellence. In September 2013, Sara was selected to participate in the LaunchPad2X Program sponsored by the Atlanta Technology Angels; after My Job Connector was identified as a high potential growth company that is female owned.

My Job Connector was also showcased at the Atlanta Metro Chamber’s Workforce Partnership Showcase in December 2013 for being an innovative leader in MJC’s approach to talent acquisition and talent pipeline development. My Job Connector was a crowd favorite and hailed as, “the future of recruiting.”

Sara will be featured on Atlanta’s local NBC channel on “Atlanta’s Technology Edge” in August 2014 when My Job Connector launches. Sara has also been invited by Dr. Beverly Tatum, President of Spelman College, to be one of two female innovators and entrepreneurs featured at a Spelman convocation in the fall of 2014. Sara graduated Magna Cum Laude with distinguished honors from Spelman College in 2000.

Being committed to and passionate about issues surrounding underserved communities and youth talent development, Sara has dedicated over $15,000 in time and service on behalf of Your Talent Bridge to Usher’s New Look Foundation in organizing and implementing the foundation’s first STEM Day in Atlanta and LA.

As Sara is also committed to women’s empowerment and issues facing women, she is also a founding member of the Women’s Solidarity Society, an affiliate group of The National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Sara also has plans to launch a foundation with the mission to provide interactive STEM learning activities, leadership development, and academic development for underserved minority middle and high school students through the My Job Connector platform.

Sara has been an invited speaker at: Emory Goizueta’s Business School’s Diversity Leadership Conference; Spelman College, the Women on the Move Summit, the Atlanta Metro Chamber, the National Center for Civil & Human Rights, Usher’s New Look Foundation, Urban League, A Green T.I.E Affair; the annual Training Inspires Entrepreneurship event hosted by the Gwinnett AKA Chapter; Success360; and Zion Missionary Baptist Church Youth Ministry.

Erica Stanley is a software architect and consultant with 15 years of experience providing innovative user-driven solutions. She holds a B.S and M.S in Computer Science from Clark Atlanta University. She has conducted post-graduate research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, she specialized in graphics, visualization and telepresence. She has worked for industry leaders like Turner Broadcasting, Myspace, Facebook, Oracle and Boeing. Erica has been a leader at four startup firms, of which, two were acquired by Fortune 100 companies. She understands what is takes to groom young technology leaders and entrepreneurs and has shared these skills as a mentor and organizer in the atlanta tech community. She co- founded the Atlanta network of Women Who Code, where she organizes monthly tech talks, workshops, hack nights and networking events for women technologists.
