Skeptic. Today Robert explained the dangers of mixing energy drinks with alcohol. Drinks like Four Loko are being banned left and right these days. Shockingly, it seems that drinks that have as much caffeine as a cup of coffee and as much alcohol as several beers can cause some health problems. Then throw in some college aged partiers and soon enough someone gets hurt. Robert says that while individually caffeine and alcohol are okay taken together in high quantities causes some problems. Robert explained why the soda tax might not be the way to decrease obesity. He said that there is no proof that limiting soda lower obesity. Even if kids moved from dining less soda – if they started drinking more milk or fruit juice in schools they would be consuming even more calories than soda. It seems that raising revenue through taxing foods and beverages increases the scope of big government. First they targeted tobacco companies, now soda companies, next will be chip and candy companies then who knows what is next after that. The most recent study showed that people who sat for over 6 hours a day had a higher premature death rate than those who moved around more. This was true even if they exercised. Robert explained that there is a lack of FDA regulation of sunscreen. So there are very often misleading claims on the the sunscreen packaging. He shared tips on which sunscreens are safe and which are a rip off. He also explained that any sunscreen over 30 spf is pretty much overkill.
