We talked to Jill Miller about her Yoga TuneUp(r) dvds, Yoga Tune Up Therapy Balls and web videos that help you lead a calm and pain free life. Jill spoke a lot about self massage and the ways her yoga therapy balls can help keep you fit and relaxed. She says not to run away from stress but to just slow down.

She shared her daily routine with us which includes some yoga, walking, eating even walking her dog. She likes to spend time doing the mundane every day chores in a mindful way to get herself focused and relaxed. She finds this makes her more productive and efficient in her work.

YOGA TUNE UP (r) , created by Jill Miller, is a unique fitness format that blends yoga, calisthenics, self massage and corrective exercise in an intelligent, modern and accessible exercise program that helps strengthen and heal the body.

JILL MILLER is “the expert’s expert” in fitness and yoga therapy. Her intimate knowledge and mastery of multiple moving and healing arts include Yoga, Pilates, Bodywork, Modern Dance and more.

She also shared some neck stretches and exercise you can do in your car. Her website is filled with quick videos that can help you throughout your day. She says that her yoga therapy balls are a great workout for your feet and since your feet contain 25% of your body’s bones you should really spend some time on them.

Charla Krupp has worked in fashion journalism for years. Is their such a thing as fashion journalism? She does style pieces for Good Morning America, Time magazine, The View, etc. So she knows a thing or two about how to look good. Here new book How To Never Look Fat Again. Over 1000 Ways To Dress Thinner Without Dieting shows you how to choose the right clothes that fit you correctly to create an optical illusion so you look slimmer.

During the interview Charla got all fired up about men wearing shorts – she does not like that look at all. Here are some of  the fashion tips she shared during the interview. What are your favorite fashion tips to make yourself look thinner?

  1. Pink makes you look fatter
  2. Navy makes you look thinner
  3. Monotones make you look taller
  4. Women shouldn’t follow trends they should only wear styles that look good on them
  5. Every woman needs a solid color go to dress
  6. Supportive underwear should be a staple for men and women
  7. Women should wear the highest heel they can – even if it is a wedge
  8. Men typically wear clothes that are too big – buy clothes that fit and throw out your clothes that don’t
  9. Men should tuck in their shirt and wear a belt

Alex Yount is the marketing guy behind one of the craziest freakin days of your life – The Warrior Dash. If you like to get muddy, if you like to challenge yourself in unconventional ways  and if you like Renaissance Festivals then the Warrior Dash must be added to the fitness events you do this year.This fun fitness event combines all of the stuff from your childhood adventures and/or what happens on the TV show WipeOut.

The Warrior Dash in Georgia is May 14-15 this year. Register early – because around 20k people are going to participate and it takes 2 days to get everyone through the course. Just to give you the heads up this 12 obstacle course includes lots of mud, water, fire and music. You have to be at least 14 to race. Everyone who competes gets a cool helmet and t-shirt and if you’re old enough you also get a free beer. Expect lots of Warrior food like bbq, corn on the cob and turkey legs. There is even a Jumbotron screen so you can watch all the other competitors take on the mud. You can compete in the costume contest, you can race with your friends. A muddy good time will be had.

Dr Felicia Stoler wants to teach you how you can be Living Skinny in Fat Genes. In her new book Living Skinny in Fat Genes. The Healthy Way to Lose Weight and Feel Great she explains that their is no fat gene that is making you fat – sorry about that. She teaches her clients how to use nutrition to overcome genetics and family histories and live healthier lives.

Here are some of the key points from her book and this interview

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, blueberries and spinach
  • Eat less protein
  • Use less artificial sweeteners
  • Eat 3 small meals and 3 small snacks each day – and not all at one time – try and spread them out over the course of your day.

We interviewed Dr Patricia Riley and Bill Whalen from Ampli5. According to these guys – these wristbands actually produce strength, balance and coordination. And who wouldn’t want some more of all that? They are designed to somehow increase performance (just by wearing them) by balancing the natural energy field and frequencies of the body. All of this must be true because Dr Riley is a specialist in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Navy veteran Sam Tickle faced many mental and physical challenges in the military. But he is now facing the EAS Unstoppable Tour. He  is participating in 30 different sports in 30 different cities over a 30 day period. Watch him go against Larry Fitzgerald in football; Danny Granger in basketball. Each morning he is handed a gym bag with the equipment he’ll need for that days event and off he goes.

When Sam is not exploring new sports challenges he is actively involved as a coach, mentor and Director of Personnel for the US Marine Corp Wounded Warrior Athlete Reconditioning Program, an organization designed to rehab injured Marines through sports and athletic competition.

On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Jeff Graves with Vision Event Management is the Race Director for the Publix Georgia Marathon. This Atlanta tradition has been around for five years and will have over 18,000 people running. It starts our from Centennial Olympic Park and meanders through most of Atlanta’s historic landmarks, neighborhoods and sites. This 2 day event features speakers, vendors, bands in addition to the marathon and half marathon. There is also a 5k run and kids run the day before on March 19.

Jeff also talked about the challenges of putting on a running event of this size. He has wrangled up over 2400 volunteers. There are groups who man the water stations competing for the awards for best and most creative water station. So be on the look out for that. Even if you are not going to run there are things to do and see that day so be sure to come by and see why this is such a successful event. Getting ready for prom is one of those important milestones for girls around the country. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Karen Jashinsky, who told us all about her unique  Prom Fitness program that she hopes becomes a catalyst for a lifetime of fitness.

Many girls look to pop culture and the media to get their answers and information as they prepare for their prom. A recent study showed that girls spend at least 2 hours a day on Facebook are more likely to have an eating disorder. Karen tries to help girls eat and exercise properly and understand that different body types can expect different results. She also wants tween girls to have the self confidence to deal with the body image challenges at come their way and not be as self-conscious about their bodies.

She has found that girls like more private online coaches and that a lot of them are intimidated by group classes. Boys on the other hand like to be hands on – using equipment.

Her program is lifestylew based with no crash diets or detox programs. She wants her members to learn their body type, what dress will look best on them learn proper nutrition and exercise techiques and get discounts, try sample classes and interact online.
