
On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on opened the show with Dr Joel Fuhrman who explained the connection between osteoporosis and exercise and good nutrition.
Dr Fuhrman insists that exercise is way more effective than drugs. He said that harmful, often unnecessary drugs are being touted as the panacea for osteoporosis. He concedes that medications can have a slight benefit in severe cases, but for more mild cases he says they may offer minimal benefits to one’s bones and can cause unpleasant and serious
side effects. “These drugs are not only costly and unnecessary, in some cases, can be dangerous,” explains the
good physician and author.
On the other hand, says Dr. Fuhrman, “with reasonable effort, you can take your bone health into your own hands. Osteoporosis can be combated most effectively without medication through proper nutrition and exercise.”
With osteoporosis occurring in epidemic proportions— it affects 8 million American women and 2 million men, causing 1.5 million fractures each year— it is never too early to start protecting yourself, says Dr. Fuhrman.

On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on our coach for the Sobefit Weight Loss challenge Marta Montenegro, founder of SobeFit magazine. Marta encouraged the Fat Guy and praised Dr Fitness. She also shared a bunch of weight loss tips. Like if your sick and your symptoms are above the neck you can exercise – if they are below the neck you should wait. She also told the Fat Guy to spread his calories throughout the day rather than all in one or two meals. She said not to drink our calories and to pre-plan healthy snacks. She cuts up and prepares vegetables on the weekends so she can eat them throughout the week.
