Broken hips are one of the most common reasons seniors are hospitalized and incapacitated. Some of the ways to prevent falling at home, (which is a common reason seniors break their hips) are: to get rid of loose rugs in the house; also make sure stairs are well lit and clear of any object; put handrails in the showers, keep a flashlight near the bed for those late night trips to the bathroom; and put slip resistant trugs in the bathrooms.
