Substituting fish for ground beef to your tacos is an easy way to make tacos a healthier meal. We recommend using tilapia. For this recipe take about 6 6oz tilapia fillets and spice them up with your favorite Mexican style spices.  Now toss them on a hot grill for a few minutes on each side. Fill the soft flour tortilla with some lettuce, cucumber, radishes and lime juice – sour cream is optional.

About half of all Americans eat fish once a week. A I’d bet the vast majority are eating some kind of fried fillet of fish sandwich as some fast food joint. The benefits of eating fish and and most all seafood clearly outweighs the health risks. But please prepare the seafood in a healthy manner. That means more grilling and baking not frying. Fish have lots of vitamins and minerals that help us stay healthy and most fish has less calories and bad fat with as much protein than the other meats. Plus some fish come jam packed with good omega 3 fats that you won’t find in other meats. Sure eat less swordfish and shark – but why not add some more salmon to you meals this week?

  • Fish shouldn’t smell like fish.
  • Choose a cut that is shiny and moist
  • Flesh should be firm
  • No brown tints
  • Choose fillets and center cuts when you can

This is the easiest Mexican meal you can make –  fish fajitas. For this recipe grill or pan fry about a pound of tilapia. Slice and stir fry some of your favorite veggies like: onions, green and red peppers, zucchini, squash, whatever you like. In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share their favorite red snapper recipe. Red snapper is one of the most delicious fish out there. And this easy recipe is a must add to your weekly meals. Take 4 nice sized red snapper fillets – about 4 oz each- and put it on some tin foil – this seals in the moisture so it doesn’t dry out.  You can add your favorite seasonings and herbs and a little olive oil. then throw some aromatic vegetables at the bottom of the pan – like carrots, celery, onions, etc. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes and enjoy. In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share one of their favorite snapper recipes. Don’t be afraid to cook fish. this fish recipe is pretty simple. Get some red snapper – skinless. Heat up your grill – real hot. Now toss the fish on the grill. Sprinkle some jerk seasoning on the fish. You only get one flip so make sure it is ready to flip – look for some flakiness.  Now a great salsa that goes with this is made by chunking up some avocado, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, lemon juice and olive oil.
