On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Bob Harper, one of the fitness trainers from the Biggest Loser TV show. Bob has a new exercise dvd series called My Trainer Bob Inside Out Method, a raw workout with real results. This 4 part exercise dvd series features 1-Pure Burn Super Strength; 2-Body Rev Cardio Conditioning 3-Yoga for the Warriors and 4-Bob’s Work Out. He said that there are no more excuses, make a decision and change your life – he said it is going to be hard work but with him as your personal trainer you can do what it takes to lose big and transform your body.  Bob’s Inside Out Method is a challenging integration of mind, body and spiritual fitness that aggressively pushes you mentally and physically further than you have ever gone to reach your goals. Watch this exercise dvd series and you’ll see why Bob is considered to be the Father Figure of the show. During the show Bob explained the challenge he faces whenever he goes to the gym – people are always checking him out making sure he is exercising properly – critiquing his form and taking notes on his workouts.  Bob also told the hilarious story about how he went from a small town in Tennessee to how he got chosen to work on the hit TV show and what he and Jillian Michaels talked about during their first day on the set together.  He also gave us a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to go through a Biggest Loser workout. He also shared an important lesson he has learned from working with the contestants. He gave parents some health and fitness tips for raising active kids and shared some of his goals and aspirations for life after the Biggest Loser TV show. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on celebrity fitness trainer all the way from England Cornel Chin. His unique fitness skills has been sought after by A list celebrities such as: Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Joseph Fiennes, Audrey Tautou, Tilda Swinton and Naomie Harris.  Cornel shared some great fitness tips and told us all about his new book Celebrity Body on a Budget. His book includes some great tips on buying a treadmill. And it explains that you don’t have to join a gym when you are first starting out  – in fact when he works out with his celebrity clients they never work out in  a gym. He said that even if you can’t afford a trainer you can get in shape if you have the motivation – the real reason you are taking this on. You also need the information – you need a structured workout plan. But what you don’t need is lots of expensive equipment. Cornel’s best fitness tip was that you should never treat exercise as something you do in your spare time – you must make it a priority if you want to get the health benefits of an active lifestyle. In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to safely bring your kid to the gym and learn about strength training. Kids love going into a gym because their are lots of machines they can climb on that they have never seen before. So once your kid is at an age that your gym allows them to use the equipment you should begin introducing him/her to the gym. The adult should always demonstrate the exercise first and then assist and spot your child as they do the exercise. Start with very light or no weight until the child learns how to do the exercise with perfect form. Be very supportive and try and incorporate exercises that use your child’s body weight along with exercises that use weights or machines. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Michael Lipowski with Pure Physique – he is also the President of the International Association of Resistance Trainers. Mike also was the trainer for the winner of Mens Fitness Magazine’s Fat to Fit Challenge in 2009. Mike has written a book Pure Physique: How to Maximize Fat Loss and Muscular Development. Mike shared some of his best resistance training tips. Mike says your goal should be to get the best results by performing the least amount of exercise. You can do this in 30 minute workouts if you really focus your level of effort – your intensity. When you get to the point where you can’t budge the weight with your greatest effort and perfect form then you have reached momentary muscle failure and you are ready to move on. A key factor in staying compliant to any exercise or weight loss program is finding an outside source of leverage – this could mean an upcoming wedding, high school reunion or anything else that motivates you. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy got to meet master trainer and dancer Jennifer Hall. Jennifer is the lead Ultimate Flirty Girl for Flirty Girl Fitness, Booty Beat. Jennifer shared her amazing weight loss story where she went from weighing close to 200 pounds to dancing onstage with Beyonce. She said having a goal that you are working towards is a great way to get you motivated to lose weight. Jennifer also has danced with Usher and Jay Z. Now Jennifer spends some of her time teaching dance in the Kinesiology Department at Georgia State University.  She also travels around the world sharing her love of fitness, dance and the Flirty Girl life with others.  She also teaches and still works as an active choreographer on projects as diverse as the TV show So You Think You Can Dance to professional and college dance teams.
