Connie Menser/Full Supply

Full Supply is a non-profit organization that was founded by Connie Menser in 2004 to enrich women’s relationships with Jesus Christ, teach application principles, and equip women for life and leadership. Through one-on-one mentoring and group mentoring, women gain confidence to share their faith, obtain practical tools for life, and discover their God-given passion and purpose. As a result, these women become leaders who mentor others for Christ, as well as leaders within their churches and communities. Some women start their own businesses, while others thrive where God already has them. In addition to helping women to grow in Christ and become Christian leaders, the ministry further impacts multitudes of women along their faith journey by leading workshops or teaching at events and conferences in the U.S. and abroad. It is by God’s grace, the ministry of Full Supply has expanded from the U.S. into Russia, Venezuela and Kenya.

Tempa Kohler/Special Kneads and Treats

Special Kneads and Treats is a 501c3 non-profit bakery with a core mission to try and ensure that any child in their community that has a birthday receives a birthday cake for free if the family cannot afford a cake. Their business focus is the hiring of special needs adults once they age out of county programs. They work with DFCS, Foster Care, and local food cooperative ministries, as well as many other local support groups to get these cakes into the hands of those in need. Special Kneads and Treats believe every child should have a birthday cake on their special day.

Shena Tarie/Models to the Rescue

Models to the Rescue brings awareness to abandoned, neglected and abused pets who are having a hard time getting adopted in shelters or foster homes. Through ongoing fundraising efforts, they are able to provide shelters photo shoots with professional models and photographers. The photos of the animals are then shared across all social media outlets to give them the exposure they need to find forever homes. Models to the Rescue provides all services to rescue organizations at no charge.

Marie Davis/Center Point

Next year will be the 50th anniversary for Center Point. This 501c3 entity was started by four Hall County Churches to provide time out religious education.  Over time, Center Point was asked to provide counseling, drug and pregnancy prevention and mentoring in the city and county schools. Center Point also offers family and individual counseling at both locations.

Vicki LaRoche/The Next Stop Foundation

The Next Stop Foundation was founded in 2006 by parents Stu and Vicki LaRoche when two of their children who are intellectually disabled faced the uncertainly of what happens when they age out of the school system at the age of 22. The fear was that they would spend days in non-stimulating environments, isolated from their peers, and feeling unproductive in their lives. When this fear was validated by other families in the same situation and stories of downward spirals of loneliness and depression were confirmed, The Next Stop was born.

What happens when the school bus stops coming and adults with special needs lose their consistent peer group and teacher mentors? With limited options for all young adults with special needs, The Next Stop sought to provide a place where social engagement, recreation and life application learning continued. A place where the risk of social and cognitive decline was reduced as members participated in stimulating, goal oriented and meaningful activities each day.

The Next Stop serves adults with special needs who are developmentally disabled or have suffered a traumatic brain injury. Uniquely, The Next Stop is not a “day program” or a “respite facility”.

Kim Phillips/North Gwinnett Co-Op

The North Gwinnett Cooperative was formed in 1991 as a ministry that provides, food, clothing, financial assistance and spiritual support to those in need in the Buford, Sugar Hill and Suwanee communities The North Gwinnett Co-Op is currently serving over 12,000 families a year.

Chuck Ferraro/Family Promise of Gwinnett County

Chuck Ferraro, Family Promise of GwinnettFamily Promise of Gwinnett is a faith based organization that serves children and their families experiencing homelessness in Gwinnett County. Their mission is to mobilize communities of congregations that partner with social service agencies to end homelessness, one family at a time.

Samantha Shelton/Furkids

Furkids is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and a no-kill division for dogs. At these locations, animals experience the best care in a loving, safe environment until they are adopted into forever homes. The Furkids mission is to help end pet overpopulation in Georgia through sterilization, high-quality adoption and by providing valuable spay/neuter services and pet care education to people in the community. Furkids cares for more animals on a daily basis than any other local organization and has rescued and altered more than 20,000 animals since its founding in 2002. Approximately 1,100 animals are in the Furkids program today, located in the Furkids shelters, 13 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and 400 foster homes.

Holley Calmes/Gwinnett Ballet Theatre

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre was Gwinnett’s first performing arts non-profit, founded in 1977. It is one of only three totally non-profit dance organizations in the Atlanta metro area, with both the school and the company holding a 501C3 status. Their annual production of “The Nutcracker” will celebrate its 35th Anniversary this holiday season when it presents this family favorite classic December 2-18 at the Infinite Energy Theatre in Duluth. Over 12,000 individuals annually enjoy this well-loved ballet.
