There are so many egg choices – which do you choose – egg whites, brown eggs, designer anti-oxidant infused eggs, farm fresh eggs, or store brands. Comparing the cost of the most expensive to the cheapest can be sometimes double. Dr Fitness says for the best value buy the store brand white eggs – that’s right go with the cheapest eggs. If you want to use only the whites – separate them yourself and save some money. Brown eggs have the same nutrition as white – they just cost more. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on our good friend Kathy Smith. Kathy has been a leading force in the wellness industry since 1980. She has sold over 16 million exercise videos and was recently inducted into the Video Hall of Fame. She serves on the board of the USC School of Gerontology and the Women’s Sports Foundation. And Kathy has recently been awarded a lifetime achievement award for her work in fitness from IDEA Health & Fitness. She also has a new book out titled Feed Muscle. Shrink Fat. She shared her biggest fitness tip which is to find something you love and throw yourself into it. With the number of overweight and obese teenagers skyrocketing it is critical that parents control what they can control in regards to their teen. While it is becoming increasingly difficult to monitor your teens eating while they are out of your home – you can control what food is inside your house. Get rid of the unhealthy snacks and bring in the fruits and vegetables. Try and make time to eat together as a family and when you do eat together prepare healthy meals. Involve your teen in the meal preparation as well. This way you can show him/her what a portion size looks like and how to make healthful food substitutions. They want it to be easier to read the calories, nutritional facts and serving size. they think the consumer has to do too much math in order to know exactly what is in their food.  In their perfect world their would also be a list of possible allergens. And they’d like all similar ingredients clustered together. And while their revamping the label why not add how much caffeine and whole grains are in their as well.
