
In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share their caramel apple recipe. Caramel apples are a great healthy snack anytime. The aren’t so bad – calorie wise and they contain an apple for a health bonus. There should be more candy fruit combinations. The hard part in this recipe is fining the wooden sticks that go in the apples. You can pick any apple – Dr Fitness likes the big Granny Smith apples. You make the caramel by mixing together granulated sugar, corn syrup, hand and half, vanilla extract in a pot and bring to a slow boil. Keep stirring – slowly then add the apples. Place the apples on some wax paper and let cool. You can add crushed nut to take it up a notch or eat just plain. the plain caramel apples have about 220 calories each.
