Substituting fish for ground beef to your tacos is an easy way to make tacos a healthier meal. We recommend using tilapia. For this recipe take about 6 6oz tilapia fillets and spice them up with your favorite Mexican style spices. Now toss them on a hot grill for a few minutes on each side. Fill the soft flour tortilla with some lettuce, cucumber, radishes and lime juice – sour cream is optional.
Who doesn’t like tacos? Here’s a way to make them kind of healthy. Use pinto beans instead of meat. Go heavier on the shredded romaine lettuce, use a freshly made salsa, throw in some crushed garlic cloves and some avocado. Eat a couple of those bad boys in a taco shell and you are good to go.
In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share their favorite healthy taco recipe. Go with the soft flour tortilla rather than the crunchy corn tortilla. Get rid of the fried ingredients like refried beans and the cheese. Use fresh ingredients like tomatoes, spinach, garlic, grilled vegetables, grilled chicken and salsa. You can even make your own fresh guacamole and throw that in too. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
