Junk South is the premier full service junk removal & roll-off dumpster rental company in Athens, Georgia committed to community betterment through a hands-on approach as well as protection of the environment through mindful collection, sorting and diversion services.
Junk South, a division of Athena Enterprises, LLC, has been helping residents and businesses become junk free since 2011. Offering full-service junk removal and roll-off dumpster rentals, Junk South is here to help. Whether it’s a pile of household junk in the garage or a warehouse full of office furnishings, Junk South removes it for you, making the ordinary business of junk removal exceptional.
In the beginning, a company was born out of the simple idea of helping others regain space (and peace of mind). It was the year 2011 and Chris Caswall, a UGA double-dawg, launched Junk South Junk Removal. With just a truck and trailer, we began making its rounds throughout Athens.
In these early days, as a way to honor our love and commitment to the Athens community, Junk South split time between volunteering its equipment and manpower to help causes such as the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Food Bank of Northeast GA, Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful and the Athens Emergency Food Bank. It was during this time that Junk South established its mission “To serve our community through responsible junk removals that protect our environment and empower fellow citizens”.

Ashley & Jacqui Derrick
Ashley Derrick & Jacqui Derrick/Workright, LLC
The Drug Lady is an important team member for any business wishing to create or maintain a Drug Free Workplace. Our “Drug Lady” is powered by two amazing ladies- a mother-daughter team who have been working together for almost 30 years. Jacqui Derrick developed the original Drugs Don’t Work program in Georgia back in 1994 shortly after the Drug Free Workplace Act was signed into law. Since then, she’s helped hundreds of business owners across the southeast implement and maintain their Drug Free Workplace programs. You can ask anyone- she’s the Original Drug Lady. In 2003 she recognized the need for a dedicated drug testing facility in the Atlanta area to serve employers. We’ve been managing that facility ever since. Her daughter, Ashley, stood no chance. Ashley started helping Jacqui with office work and creating training programs for younger audiences as a teenager. The two became a staple in the industry, working together to help their clients navigate difficult situations, interpret results, assisting with policy creation and management, and educating teams on how drugs can affect a person as well as their livelihood and those around them. If you’ve got a question, chances are they’ve seen it and have the answer. And if you’ve got a story to tell, even better!
A woman owned and operated small business located in the Atlanta Metro Area specializing in creating and managing Drug-Free Workplace programs for employers. Started in 1999, Workright opened their own testing facility in 2003. They strive to provide their clients with a one stop shop for all their substance abuse program questions and concerns.

Bubba Longgrear

Dr. Fred “Bubba” Longgrear’s life has been shaped by a legacy of service, faith, and perseverance. Raised in a military and pastoral home in Thomaston, GA, he learned early that leadership means sacrifice, humility, and responsibility to others. Those values became the foundation of his life as a husband, father, educator, and community leader. A lifelong Georgian, Bubba worked on farms as a young man, played college football at Georgia Southern University (where he was a member of the 1990 National Championship team), and pursued a career in education that began with teaching and coaching before moving into school leadership. He and his wife, Lisa Brannen Longgrear, an educator herself, have been married for more than 25 years and are raising three children – Jackson, Brooks, and Adysan – all products of Georgia public schools. Beyond education, Bubba is deeply involved in his community. He serves as a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher at Cedar Street Baptist Church, has led the Rotary Club three times, and contributes to local boards including the Economic Development Authority and the Willow Lake Golf Club Board – where he serves as President. His personal journey is grounded in family and faith, which continue to shape his steady, approachable leadership style and his passion for helping the next generation succeed.
With 30 years of experience in Georgia’s public schools, Dr. Fred “Bubba” Longgrear has built his career on serving students, supporting teachers, and strengthening communities. He has served in every major role in education – teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and for the past eleven years, superintendent of Candler County Schools. Under his leadership, Candler County has improved graduation rates, expanded literacy initiatives, strengthened school safety, and built career and technical education opportunities such as the Metter College and Career Academy and the Coastal Plains Charter High School. His results-driven approach balances academic achievement with workforce readiness, ensuring students are prepared for success beyond high school. Respected statewide, Bubba currently serves as President of the Georgia School Superintendents Association, chairs the Leadership Working Group of the Georgia Literacy Council, and was honored with the 2024 Bill Barr Leadership Award. He has also been a finalist for Georgia Superintendent of the Year, recognized for his collaborative leadership and commitment to improving public education across Georgia. As GSSA President and a trusted voice for superintendents across the state, Bubba is a frequent advocate at the Georgia State Capitol. He has prioritized building those bridges through meeting with legislators, testifying before committees, and helping shape education policy that directly impacts Georgia’s students, teachers, and families. He is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL), and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE). Bubba is running for State School Superintendent because he believes Georgia public schools are facing a leadership crisis. His vision is clear: raise literacy levels, improve school safety, expand career pathways, and restore trust between the Department of Education, local districts, teachers, parents, and families and build a culture of investment in the next generation.
