In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain some of the hidden danger related to your treadmill. As more and more treadmills are showing up in homes more and more kids (and adults) are getting injured on them. About 25,000 kids are injured on home exercise equipment each year. A good thing to do is give your child a safety lesson on proper treadmill use and try and be in the same room as he/she uses the treadmill in case something does happen. The Fat Guy loves using his nordic walking poles to get a great upper body workout that burns more calories while he walks.  Remember to start slow but try to walk with a brisk pace – you want to walk with a purpose like you’re trying to catch a bus. Swing your arms and increase the intensity when you can. You can move your walking program indoors with a walk in place program or through the use of a treadmill.
