Before you begin any weight loss program you have to see where you are at today. There are lots of  body measurement tools that can help you. The Fat Guy uses his jeans – the jeans don’t lie. Loose jeans mean you are losing weight. Some people like using BMI – you can find that BMI calculator pretty much everywhere. Other people like to use waist circumference – or belt size. Just take a measuring tape and put it around your waist at the level of your belly button to get your waist size. Other tools are percent body fat or lean body mass. Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory that has been shown to reduce your soreness after you exercise or workout. A recent study suggested that eating actual ginger rather than taking a ginger supplement worked best. And you have to eat about 2 grams a day for several days in order to get the best results. Adding vegetables to meals doesn’t have to be boring. This green bean salad recipe is a little different way to add some green beans to your dinner. Take a whole bunch of green beans – at least 1.5 pounds and stir fry them with some olive oil and garlic then over to steam them a little. This is the easiest Mexican meal you can make –  fish fajitas. For this recipe grill or pan fry about a pound of tilapia. Slice and stir fry some of your favorite veggies like: onions, green and red peppers, zucchini, squash, whatever you like. University health centers have a simple 7 question test that can screen kids for depression.   1. Make peace with the craving – accept that you have cravings and give in to them (within reason)
  2. For salt cravings see if a pickle makes it go away
  3. For sweet cravings see if some fruit helps
  4. Have a healthy substitute around the house instead of a high calorie option
  5. Distract yourself – most craving pass in 15-20 minutes
  6. Brush your teeth – no one likes to eat anything after brushing your teeth
  7. Don’t keep the junk food in the house – make it hard to get to

Eat more salad. Duh – But salad can get boring – How do you jazz it up – well add some salmon.  Not just any salmon – Roasted Curry Salad. Now that’s a salad you can be proud of.  Cook your salmon in the oven at about 400. Throw on some olive oil, curry powder – cook for about 5 minutes on each side. In your salad put a bunch of good stuff like avocado, nuts, mango slices, spinach. Rule of thumb – you wont need to use a salad dressing if you put enough fruit and berries in your salad. And let the salmon cool off and crumble it up before you throw in in your salad. Don’t just put a piece of warm fish on top of your lettuce. That’s just wrong. Mix everything up in a big bowl then transfer it your dinner plate – like they do in a restaurant. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
