In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain the difference between good fats and bad fats. Dr Fitness spent a lot of time explaining the differences between polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, saturated and hydrogenated fats. Briefly: Poly – mostly comes from plants has omega 6 fats which are ok and omega 3 fats which are good – have been shown to lower total cholesterol; Mono – mostly comes from plants for example olive oil is a mono they have been shown to lower your ldl; Saturated fats mostly come from meat (an exception is coconut which is good) has been shown to raise cholesterol; Hydrogenated – mostly in snack foods and fried foods has been shown to raise blood cholesterol.   Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. Some experts argue that eating lots of smaller meals throughout the day balance your insulin and rev up your metabolism some experts disagree.
